..albeit it was written in encrypted hexadecimal code. I had to crack it first.

 

Never thought to look there before. My '02 has similar marks -- BBA118. It's apparent Honda is dyno checking every engine during the test run after assembly and electric penciling the peak HP on the head.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Mine says 66, so I get that day they were doing peak torque numbers.
Obviously I have a "soft" motor.
I wonder how they decide from day to day what peak measure to use ?

This reminds me of the first year of the Gold Wing Limited back in the mid 70s. They dyno'd all the GW engines and only those in the top 10% were allowed to be fitted into a Limited model.

 

Dealer initials and date on floor purchased? A lot easier to etched while uncrating than memorizing vins....

I was looking at that the other day when I was doing a full detail. Kinda wondered what it was. Dealers initials and date make sense. Gonna have to go and check it out again.

 

Well mine has it but the original dealer was Apex Sports the number has an M in it.
