Hi guys. Looking for rear shock options for my dad's 919.
I see YSS is an option.
Any ideas?
I have a YSS on my bike. It's a decent stock replacement option. It's not really an upgrade in any sense except my damping was completely blown on my stock shock. The YSS is a bit longer than stock, despite being listed on their website as an OEM replacement. I wound ALL of the preload out of it and still had to put a 7/8" thick pad on the bottom of my kickstand foot. It did liven the handling up a bit due to the steeper head angle and reduced rake, but nothing crazy. I weigh about 190 pounds with helmet and jacket. If your dad is lighter than that or rides hard, he should look for a different shock. Since this one doesn't have a remote reservoir, it does get hot if you're riding spiritedly for an extended period of time.
