I am going to swap tanks and would like some advice on rinsing out the new tank. It has what appears to be an oily coating on the inside.

Should I rinse it out? If yes, what should I use for the rinse - gasoline?

Any other recommendations highly appreciated.

I also purchased fuel filter, fuel filter return, base gasket and a few other washers and bolts for the tank just to have in case I need them.

TIA

Aha, I knew someone here would come up with an easier, smarter plan! Just fill 'er up with primo and some Seafoam after swap.

Thanks for that and all the other threads on swapping tanks.

My current tank is perfect except it has just a tiny bit of surface rust on the inside which is driving me crazy.

Bought this new one and man it's tits. Can't wait to get started.

When the FSM says 9ftlbs (or whatever silly low number it states) for the fuel pump assembly mounting nuts, they freaking mean it. Those things are like cheddar.

Roger that. I've read multiple times about snapping those bolts due to overtightening.

I believe I will buy a dedicated torque wrench just for those mounting bolts to alleviate the stress related pucker factor.

Thanks for the reminder.
