I have a Hornet 919 date 2002 for Asia market-where the law limit speed under 180 km/h.
While the one for European can go maximum 260km/h (see pictures).
Anybody have ideas how to derestrict the limitter in my bike.
Thanks so much for your helping
From this website
This is the simple kit I put together & distribute
Remove your tail section & undo the T shaped cover attached (4 push pins) on the bottom of the tail section right behind the battery. Under that there will be a black ECU box with a gray connector & a black connector.
This mod is best done with the PCII, as you can do the mod by splicing into the PCII harness instead of the ECU harness & if you ever need to undo the mod you can make it look 100% stock
You can obtain your own connectors from a cd-audio cable (pictured below) as it has the perfect size connectors to match the ECU pins.
Another solution that I'm thinking to use the speedohealer to convert from km to miles. When I go at 100 m/h the signal send to ECM only 100km/h it mean I can go maxinum 180 m/h -> 180x1.6 = 288 km/h
SpeedoHealer - Electronic Speedometer and Odometer calibrator for motorcycles
I write an email to the techinal engineer of speedohealer for asking
And this is his answer
Yes, if you enable the SH''s "kph to mph" conversion mode, e.g. 140 indicated
on your meter will mean 140 mph road speed.
Probably it will also by-pass the speed limiter.
However, we do not have information on whether there is another kind of
restiction (e.g. HP) on this bike for the Asian market.
Anybody have experience with this problems. Please help me
Thanks a lot
The RC51 wiring diagrams show the black/white wire (B2) from ECU to Fuel injection and Fuel pump show I think the ECU will cut power fuel pump when up to 186 kmh.In that solution they connect B2 with A15 may be to supply power for fuel pump when over 186kmh.That all my guess.
The CBR600 wiring diagrams has same with black/white wire from ECU to fuel injection. All the problems we don't know which port can supply power for it when up to 186kmh
the "soft rev limit" affects the ignition not the fuel injection, by intermitent retard, also on all 919/hornets. regarding "speed" the sender in the transmission is the only possible signal, so i think the speedo healer would be your solution.
Not yet try with another country ECU because I'm in Vietnam-it not many 9er and very difficult to buy spare part for big cc bike like 919.
If I have other ECU i think it still can not work on my bike because HISS key.We need to change HISS key also.It take a lot of money.
I ask one guy in other website,he is in Japan and has the same problem like me.And this is his answers
"Hi, I'm in Japan and have similar questions. I am sure the dealer can help out as they do this mod for other Japanese/asian models to open there full potential .
My hornet has a CB900F on the rear fender which from what I have read means it was reimported from Canada (as they don't sell the CB900F and CB600F in Japan), which would mean it shouldn't be restricted , but the speedo only goes up to 180kmh so I am not sure. I have noticed that 4500 revs in 6th gear is about 140kmh. So if I do the math it should go pretty quick if your red lining. So will need to check this out and get back to you ...."
I talked to the dealer and he will do it for me. As it is illegal to do in Japan he cant give too much detail. but it does require changing the Airbox and mufflres and a wire splice on the ECM loom. I guess when it is done I will get the parts list and can then tell you what I had to purchase. And then get some shots of the splice etc and just reverse engineer the thing? The chain etc are all ok and dont need replacing.
Unfortunately I will wait until after the Japanese MOT (Shaken) before I mod the bike as it is impossible to reregister mod'ed bikes. This will happen in November and then I will do the mod and have 2 years before it needs MOT again. sorry you probably need it now .....
It is expensive mufflers / airbox (but I was getting mufflers anyway. I guess it is about $300 dollars for the parts excluding the muffler."
I know in limited speed bike has something inside exhaust pipe and intake port,we only need to remove this. But the modification in ECM wire is so difficult. His answer make me believie only need change some wire in loom for derestriction bike.
Could anybody post some pics of ECM plug (gray, black connetor) for me?I can compare with my bike and maybe find something different.
Thanks so much
@ MotoCycho: I take pics after they finish the test.
@sugs : In Vietnam some street has helmet law and other not.But I think put on your helmet before ride always are the best thing.
@async : you really know a lot of Vietnamese food! I guess you was there more than 1 time.I live in Sai Gon.Contact me if you come to Vietnam.
@ anybody help me with some pics of the connector to ECM(gray and black connector under your tail) Please !!! thanks so much
