Can anyone point me in the direction of a good thread for this? I have searched and searched (I think I am doing that part right) and I haven't found anything about cleaning and lubing other than what everyone on WT likes to use. I'm a motorcycle novice so any advice would be greatly appreciated...

So I finally saved up my pennies and bought a chain and sprockets. Yay! I'm all excited about putting them on, but I can't get the bolt on the front sprocket loose. Fudge! Do any of you lovely gentlemen have some quick and dirty advice for popping this sucker loose? I suppose I ought to mention...

Alright, i have done about an hour of pruzing through threads ect to see what people have said about chain n sprockets for the 919. My requirements.... LONG LASTING ... thats it, i dont care about looks or weight saving. That said, its obvious to me that DID 530 chain is the way to go... but...

I need to tighten my chain and I don't have a center-stand or bike-stand. Would I be able to tighten the kickstand with the bike on the side-stand? I figure I should probably get a bike-stand for changing oil and things like this. Can I get by without one for today...?

Hey guys, The chain on my 919 is geting a little loose. The adjusters are all the way out though. The local shop took a look and said the chain and sprockets are fine, amd that I just need to take a link out of the chain. I am mechanically inclined, and have a boatload of tools, and the...

Hey, just got a new chain put on my niner, and it seems to have come from the factory a bit "over-lubed." After a couple rides, the "chicken strip" on my left side has been nicely coated with a thin layer of sticky chain lube. Obviously this is the last place I want anything greasy. ...And I...

Does anyone have any experience converting to a 520 chain? I was wondering if there are any safety issues. The 520 is significantly cheaper than the 530. I mistakenly bought 520 sprockets from the internet. They are the right size for the 919, but they are thin and the 530 chain is too wide...

so I got some goodies from LDH at a great price... Took it to the Honda shop( it was the cheapest quote $90 labor) not tools or rear stand to do it myself... the guy does the work then gives me shit of WHY I would so a 520 conversion with a 17-44 gearing, then proceeds to tell me thats so "Joe...

I intend to have a shop install the DID c/s kit and wanted to know what that should cost and if I have a tire installed on the rear what overlap should be deducted. Getting ready for a road trip :lurker-eating-popco Thanks

Probably going with stock size 530. Dont need sprockets. What brand would you use and why? Thanks,:hello:

I did some reading about the different sprocket setups for the 919 and I have come to a couple conclusions. Currently I have the 15/45 3.0 setup (Vortex) and it's very fun, but out of control at times. You really have to work the clutch to keep the front wheel down, which kind of defeats the...

i just picked up my 919 a few weeks ago and love it so far. i performed the 16000 mile maintenance but have a few questions. 1) 8k between oil changes? thats what the book says and i use the honda gn4 oil (10w40) but that seems a little extreme. 2) whats the average chain/sprocket life on the...

Hi guys, Took out the bike out of the underground parking where she spent the winter. Last year I've decided to swap the chain kit with a new one, but winter came early. This year, spring came early and my chain kit arrives in a month or so. :( Can I still use it for a month? Thing is, the...

I don't even know how this happened but now my brand new did is completely fucked Somehow the links got bent outwards on each side of the master link. I was using a chain tool and didn't even use that much pressure. I want to throw up right now.

I know it's something most people don't have more than one of, but I thought I'd ask anyway if someone may have a chain tool laying around they don't use and want to get rid of.
