Hey... just doing a rear fender mod on my 919, and from what I understood there were 2 bolts holding the fender on, under the seat. I removed those, expecting the fender to fall off... not so, its solid (well, it can rock fore and aft now, but won't come off.) I can't find where the thing is still attached!?
Well, I answered my own question... turns out you have to remove the rear tail section, then remove the two bolts holding the thing on along with the two bolts I already took off. Not as easy as it sounded, but easy enough.
It is really easy to remove the cowl. Just remove the grab handle and a couple of plastic clips near the front and carefully pull it off as to not damage the paint. I do believe the bolts go in fom the bottom but it has been awhile.
I am measuring up the bolts for a homemade eliminator. Got some boys at work that work metal and are going to make me up something similar to the Jardine kit.
I'll post some pics down the road when its done.
Thanks again. Won't be the last time I have to ask how to take this thing apart.
SSS, just wanted to say thanks for those vids... really makes life easy for anyone who is new to the bike. Even if you are mechanically abled, its always easier to see it first. :thumbup1:
