Parting Out 2004 919
 

I just picked up this parts bike, a 2004 919 with an alleged 30-40K on it. While I'm likely to keep most of the parts, I thought I would post up and let people know there may be parts available. The engine was reportedly blown, reason unknown. The bike has been crashed on the right side, with the usual pavement rash. May have been slowly dropped on left side, from the tank damage.

Parts I know I am keeping: Forks, ECU, wiring harness, coils, wheels (but not front rotors), misc brackets and hardware, headlight/bucket assembly, throttle bodies, fuel pump assembly, throttle cables, brake hydraulics, regulator/rectifier, radiator.


Parts destroyed or missing and not shown in/contrary to pictures from what I've seen so far: right rear turn signal lens, midpipe, mufflers, muffler heat shields, windscreen, rear brake lever, handlebars, gas cap - I'm sure there's more but I can't think of any more of them at present.

Do you have left side pedal/shifter parts? Just put mine down and broke the shifter pedal stuff and ripped the coolant hose that has the coil around it.

Also, the left side rearset...

The left pedal/shifter is part of the left rearset. I will go to the bike today and see what the left rearset looks like.

That's so sad. That once proud, beautiful 919, reduced to what it now is.

It happens to almost all mass produced bikes - examples become parts bikes due to blown engines, crashes, etc. Unfortunate for those bikes, but good if they can keep others still viable as riders.

Here are pics of the left pedal/shifter/rearset assembly. I will need to keep the "insert" that backs the passenger peg and sits in the fin as well as the wire guard, but the rest is fair game. I believe that is rust/corrosion on the shift lever but it should clean up and be fine after some paint or powdercoat.

Here's the right side one, which is also available. Note the bent brake pedal; I will also be keeping the wire guard and insert on this side.

The entire left rearset including footpegs and gearshift mechanism is now gone/unavailable. I'll be adding posts on parts that are gone as I remove them for myself or people get them.

How much would you want for both front disks shipped to 91910?

Give me a couple days to get out to where the bike is stored and look them over, I will get back to you.

Unfortunately, evaluating their condition and thus their price is going to have to wait until I get to the point where I fully strip the bike down for disposal. That is likely to be at least a couple weeks - I will have to get back to you then.

I do and it's the stock seat, but it has a rip or two in it. Foam seems reasonably intact on it. I'll get pictures when I get over to where I've got it stored later in the week - trips are limited due to COVID-19 lockdown in my city.

Yeah if you could send a few pics that would be awesome. I'm just looking for a second one so I can get mine redone. Its riding season where I'm at and don't want to be with my bike lol.

Not yet, sorry. I'm going to try to get over there this weekend for photos and see what condition everything is in.

I do have a title for the frame but am uncertain if I want to sell it at the current time. At the very least, I'll be holding onto it until it's all but completely dismantled, which due to the lockdown in Dallas may be a while. If you need one immediately, there's several titled frames on eBay at current.

Ones in not dissimilar conditions on eBay seem to be about $140 at current. How about $80 plus actual packing and shipping (the latter is surprisingly expensive these days, having shipped a seat in the last few years) to wherever?

Yep, I saw that. I’m planning on going with the ReWorked F3 Shock “DMR” has going online for $350 ish. When we all get back to work. Looking for a quick fix for the rigid I’m running now. I’ll check eBay availability, if not you got a number?

Are you going to let it go ? For what $100,$150,$200 ?

The number I'd had in mind was $120, because that was the core price for an internally modified version of the 04 shock that a (locally well regarded) suspension shop was offering. At the same time, I don't want a fellow forum member to feel ripped off as the eBay price for one is much lower, so I made the post and linked the eBay auction.

It does not have a centerstand, sorry.

I’d be interested in the rear fairing and maybe front fender if they are not busted. I have a low mileage 04 I’m trying to put back together.

The rear fairing is scratched but not busted. However, the little knurled screw thread inserts that you screw the taillight brackets into pulled out (as they do on a lot of these things) and will have to be epoxied back into their molded towers - which are intact, not broken. Please note that the thing was a bit grimy on the inside and hadn't been completely cleaned out when these pics were taken.


I *think* the previous owner cracked the front fender, but I can go check it the next time I'm over to my storage unit. I can epoxy the little ferrules back in place prior to shipping if desired but I wanted to be completely transparent as to condition, etc.

Are you selling: the gunmetal right side cover and the bolt (and any extra bolts); and the speedo sensor?

I could sell you the speedo sensor, but that is actually better bought brand new. They seem to fail based more on time and less based on mileage. They seem to last around 15 years in this case before getting erratic.


The big plastic right side cover on an 04 is asphalt black, not gunmetal, from the factory. I also don't think I have any of those. There's a silver/gunmetal metal heat shield mounted to the airbox assembly, is that what you're looking for?

Yea, I looked on a blowapart and the color is called gunpowder. But thanks for being honest. I will go the OEM route.

Yeah, that is the original Asphalt color renamed (only in the case of the sidecover). I didn't get either of them with the parts bike, sorry.

Hey, would love to get the front headlight stay, if you're still parting that out. Partzilla said I could get boned on that one, though they had everything else.

I could use the ECU harness connectors for a power commander if you decide to part out the harness.
