Effe It is always much better/safer to change the whole set rather than only chain or sprockets...

HondaCrazy I have been looking at the same set, might as well get the best if it is not that much more...I just need to decide on 17/44 vs 16/43 and 520 vs 530...

FlyCatcher The DID 530 is the way to go. They ain't no $225 either.

*EDIT* sorry, $225 for the chain and sprockets.

$141 from here. Chain only

D.I.D. 530VM Gold X'ring Sealed Street Chain (Rated To 1000cc's) Sprocket Center

$195 for the set

Or better yet, PM LDH for a set.

If you want to do it right, it'll cost.

g00gl3it Don't skimp on sprockets and chain. It will come back to bite you in maintenance, riding, and your pocketbook when you have to replace them early.

Cotten Mouth Chris go with the ldh chain and sprocket set you wont regret it

borninusa Last question (well, hopefully last one).

I am not sure if I want to spend $225 on a chain (you know how wives are at times). I am sure that particular chain is high quality and a great price...but is there a cheaper option that is still of quality..another brand?

borninusa Whoops..sorry about that last question. I see the answer I need above.

I just looked on his thread. Being that I am just a casual in-town rider..nothing fancy going on....what chain do I need to get?

If you look on his thread, I think there are 4 options. I am so not the mechanical type guy I dont have a clue.

Toast Check out your sprockets and see if they need replacing as well. Hopefully they won't...so you wouldn't need the chain and sprocket set, just a chain.

borninusa Would this be what I am looking for? Good price or no?

Chain replacement

I have a 2002 919 and I am in need of replacing the chain. I bought the bike used and it now has 13000 miles on it. I think its the original chain and according to the chain guide...its darn near the end.

So I would like to replace the chain. The thing is, I have never bought one. The last couple of bikes I have owned have been shaft drive.

What chain do I need to get? Options I am looking for and websites (if anyone has a good one)
