New Ride gear

OK, ride report forthcoming after this weekend. I got a wild hair and made a purchase just a few minutes ago. I sold my Sidi Vertigos, and bought a set of Sidi Champion Tepor boots from NewEnough. After a brief ride through moderated showers yesterday, I found a true need for waterproof riding boots. And for $139, I figured it was worth a shot.

And now to the jacket. I am impatient, and have a serious problem with ADD as it relates to gear and/or motorcycles. I am waiting on JetBlast's review of the new Fieldsheer Hydro ADV jacket, but for my upcoming jaunt into the NC mountians, I wanted something more substantial than my Joe Rocket mesh w/ liner. So I went perusing through all of the discount gear sites for a fill-in until I find the exact match for my wants/needs. For $100, you can't go wrong. I found the Fieldsheer Zero Condition to fit my needs. I have been pleased with their products in the past, and I hope this one is a continuance of their performance. BTW, I purchased the silver/gunmetal/yellow for visibility.

What size did you order? Did you notice that the sole design is different on the larger sized version? I wasn't going to buy it until I saw the lug sole on my size. I wanted something to replace my ragged Astars that act like a sponge in rain. Although, I was absolutely floored with the amount of protection offered by the Strom. The only part of me that got wet was my feet and lower shin area. That was all from road spray. My gloves were a little wet, but not saturated.

I ordered 45s. In race boots, I like a 44. But I was going for a little room for maybe 2 pairs of socks if need be.

Got in a pair of Gaerne Panorama touring boots for myself yesterday. Made in Italy, waterproof touring boots. They have an inner liner separate from the outer boot shell. All leather, extremely comfortable, these will become my daily / touring boots.

I have the Sidi On Road Sympatex boots. They are absolutely 100% waterproof at least until I had a crash in them. They did their job well though. I put about 15,000 miles on mine and had it not been for the crash they would have lasted another 5000.

The only gripe some have about them is they don't breathe all that great if you have sweaty feet. Luckily for me I have crap circulation in my feet so they almost never sweat. Good luck with the boots.
