Occupational Therapy. I've gone back and forth about alot of different ideas these past few years, but it seems to be a pretty solid field with plenty of opportunities. I think it'll be a good way for me to put my desire to contribute to society in a meaningful way to work.

I moved to LA some years ago to start a rock band, and playing music is still the most important thing in my life, but I'm gonna be 30 yrs old at the end of this year and I don't wanna end up like just another burnout on the boulevard of broken dreams...

I'm tired of being a lost soul swimmin' in a fish bowl year after year.

What about you? What are you studying?

Ok, that song was regurgitatingly sappy and cliché-ridden, but apart from the uber-pop hitness, the phrase is a pretty good way to describe the debacle of Sunset Blvd and all the Hollyweirdos... of which I guess I'm occassionally a part of...

I like how you guys create threads with cool names like "new dual sport from Honda" or "PCIII cold start issues solved" or other similar shit. Is it some kind of master baiting technique? You bait people with all those threads and after 3rd post it goes way out of its original subject. WTF???

Sure, it looks cool...................and was the size bike I was really digging, when I was EIGHTEEN BACK IN FUCKING 1974!!!!!!!!!!!!

But we all know that Honda drags their collective feet so darn much when it comes to the dual purpose bikes. They give us stuff like the DN01
instead of a cool CRF450 version dually. That's messed up.

Alright, dude, we get it... Bigdaa is a big boy and wants his wheels equally as girthy...

You hafta remember tho, the CRF250L and its CBR250R cousin are designed and produced for a worldwide market and in particular, Asia, where 250's are full-sized bikes.

It's all about the business model and what will actually sell. Yeah, everyone may say ... "Wow, cool, we want a CRF450 dual sport!" You may want one and drool, but with everyone that's saying they want one ... how many would actually buy one?!

A very limited and small market for a CRF450 dual sport ... anyone that wants one, will easily buy a CRF450 and modify it as necessary.

Not true.

Here in CA it has to be sold street legal to be street legal... they killed converting green sticker dirbikes bikes to dual sports jan 1st 2004.

But unfortunatly you are right about the trail model of bikes.... the CRF250X / 450X sold so bad that they stopped making them back in like 09 and still have new 09's on the floor. The ONLY thing that would make me buy a new 250X / 450X to replace my current 250X is if they updated the motor to the new R specs with fuel injection.... otherwise my 04 250x is gonna get ran untill it dies haha.

The CRF250L is pretty sweet... its got a great lil power plant that will be MAINTENANCE FREE. UNLIKE taking a CRF250R / 450R (or x variants) and converting to street where one would need to change the oil every 200mi.

With all that said.... honda is posed to release new 250x/450x stuff in a month or so... the new 2013 450R got released with a revised motor and suspension and is pretty slick. ... lets hope the same for 250x / 450x and not just "bold new graphics"

That's just not true, Dave. There are many states, including the behemoth restrictive donglick state of California I live in where you cannot "modify" your CRF450 or any other non-cert bike for the street. It is illegal.

That is why my area is swarming with the motard 400 Suzies.

Why? What the hell else is there?

If Yamaha took the leap it would be tits! They are more likely than Honda.
Honda just looks back at the TransAlp (which I owned) and says "Gee! We're a bunch of scared rabbits and we can't go there again. Heavens NO!"

I just noticed that I am echoing ND's reply, so I'll cut it short here.

Go fuck yourself. No hard feelings though ya wired nozzle. Take your anal-eaze and find a barstool with a wider seat so your butt won't hit the floor when you sit.

Now THESE are the bikes that should be pushed over the top into dual purpose land!

2012 450 Enduro Shootout - Motorcycle USA

If you look at the HP specs, not one of them should drop an iota in the transition from enduro to dual and a couple should even rise. I mean, w3hy bother with less?

cough.... check Australia's Honda moto site.... 450x / 250x street legal.

Off Road Enduro | Honda Motorcycles Australia

Even then like i have said before and will say again... the 450X / 250X and all of the 450/250 high strung four stroke bikes are not ment for the street..... their oil capacity is just not there.

It will be interesting to see what honda does with the 450X for 2013... we should know here soon. They are slowly releasing new bikes.... i must say i REALLY like the lil CRF110F for a screw around pit bike with good power.

You are wrong about that, nd.

They adapt to the street well as an old buddy of mine here in Santa Barbara did get his CRF450 mx streetized and does indeed ride it everywhere! It's been on the road now for years and he is one of the best riders I know.

The Ozzers have their shit together getting that bike and there is a damn good reason it's in that config down there.

That is the bike that should be here in this form and the SM format also.

Did he make any mods or additions to the oiling or cooling system. My cousin is a MX racer and was sponsored by Honda locally hear a few years back. All his CRF`s were terrible and about as reliable as a glass hammer.

Im not saying it wouldnt be a bad thing... but the 450X / 450R motors are just not meant for long term street use. Round town putting ya your fine.

.... dont make false statements.... the reason why so many people had issues with the race 4 strokes back in the day when they were first rolling out was due to the fact they road them like 2 strokes.... always high in the r's always banging off the rev limiter and they dont watch oil level / change oil regularly.

my 04 250x has a 06 crf250r cam in it as well as the 250r ignition timing (+1000rpm rev limiter etc) opened air box.... it also probably has about 500-600 hrs on it. The only thing thats been done to the motor internals other than the cam swap (which was done purely for performance) is 2 exhaust shims as the exhausts were one .01mm outside the loose end of spec. Piston, rings, cylinder, all valves, springs, AND intake shims are ALL ORIGINAL FROM HONDAS assembly line. The head has NEVER been separated from the cylinder.

Some say i am crazy for changing the oil in it as much as i do, but as i have always stressed ... you are playing with LESS THAN A QUART of oil in these things, and they tend to use a little oil by nature of design and as such i change the oil about every 150mi of trail riding or 50 mi of track riding.

On another note, apparently sometime in September or around there honda is said to announce something regarding the 450x/250x.

I also wonder if these CRF250L's are in dealers now? i would really like to see a man about the horse!
