Thanks, not sure I'll keep it as I have a garage full of bikes already, but it was too good of a deal to pass up. Will put a few miles on it and decide if it can replace the FJR and XR650L, the America is already up for sale, and I might sell the 599. If I were going to pare the collection down to two bikes, the Duke and GS would be my choices.

Nice...how do you like it so far?

When I die I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather did....not screaming in horror like the passengers in the backseat of his car.

That's why we should ride soon. I would love to see how the BMW compares with my Yamaha.

Yep, I'd like to compare them as well, still undecided about the GS, can always flip it for a nice profit.

That means we should hurry. If you decide to flip that you won't have any trouble getting rid of it.

I'm digging it, have decided to keep and it and started modding it out to suit me. The stock windscreen is terrible, tons of noise and buffeting, after much research I've ordered an Aeroflow screen, universally praised by GS riders as the best option. Stock seat sucks too, way too soft and uncomfortable after only a short time in the saddle, have a Sargent on the way. Found some used OEM BMW handguards on ebay, installed those today. The stock Bridgestone Deathwings had to go, Metzler Tourances soon to arrive. That's all for now. Really.

Haven't posted an update on the GS for quite awhile, have added a bunch of goodies. Just finished installing a PIAA light kit over the weekend, relatively easy once I had the body work removed to route the wiring. Here are a few pics...

I've also installed a used BMW Vario top case and hand guards that I bought used off ebay, along with a new Sargent seat and Aeroflow windscreen, and an oem front fender "beak" protector. Only other mods were grip puppies and bar risers to complete the ergonomic transformation.

The seat and windscreen are a huge improvement, the stock seat was terrible, extremely soft and not supportive, the Sargent is firm and comfortable for countless miles. Same with the stock windscreen, caused severe buffeting and noise, the Aeroflow is the best windscreen I've ever experienced, so quiet and smooth I don't even have to wear ear plugs.

Of course after you install an axillary light kit and it's almost a full moon, the only logical thing to do is go offroading!

Next up, new tires, have a set of Metzler Tourances that will be installed this Thursday.

Love the big GS but probably will never be in a position to own one.

Have you bought your Hi Viz yellow jacket and white Nolan flip-up helmet yet?

Love the single sided swingarm, 5 bolts and the wheel is off in a matter of seconds. Enjoyed the new Metzlers on the ride home from the install shop, rode better than the stock Bridgestones, smooth and responsive.

Got a used Akrapovic titanium slip on exhaust on ebay for 1/2 price of a new one. Also have a new Remus header system on the way, will eliminate the cat and is the top rated full system set up for horsepower gains, supposedly will add 9-10hp. Went ahead and installed the Akra with the stock headers today just to see what it sounded like...

Like it a lot! Not loud at all, but a much better sound that the stock pipe, and a nice growl when you get on it. They claim the muffler alone adds a couple of HP, it did seem spunkier but it could have just been the better sound as well.

Also added these sweet SW Motech adjustable foot pegs, much wider than the stock ones, and have two positions. I set them on the lowest, which adds 15mm of leg room. Very comfortable!
