My first "Big Bike"

So, I'm in this crazy sort, clean, simplify, and throw away mood lately. Today was my closet and started my office. I found an old album that had a few pics. I'm still missing a whole bunch from when I was a kid.

Well, here's my first "Big Bike". Worked my a$$ off for that thing! Tobacco, farm, paper route, shoveling driveways, racking leaves, whatever it took to make a dollar! I always dreamed of a Bell Moto III helmet, but settled for a K-Mart open face special. I dreamed of Scott MX boots, but settled for workboots. I did have the Scott goggles with the "Darth Vader" face shield attachment. I did have a kidney belt ... I still vividly remember the first pair of MX pants I bought for my first race.

I moved up from a '74 RM100 (my first bike) to a '78 YZ125 (sleeved to 100) then this and then moved to a '80 CR250R (and still have the Fox AirShox in the garage right now).

Sorry, just having a great touching moment with some great memories at the "sand pits", "Sportsman's Club", MX338 ... Being on a bike was the only time I was truly happy and able to forget the shietty life growing up! I can't believe how this is effecting me right now! I must say the love of motorcycles helped me get through life and where I'm at today!!!!!

120 lbs and ripped! In that pic I must have been 12 or 13? 6th grade ... I wrestled at 121 lbs class.

I now need to find the pics of me wearing the yellow and black Bruce Lee jumpsuit from "Enter the Dragon"!

You're older than me? Unlike these days of digital cameras. I still remember that "Flash-O-Matic" Vivitar handheld camera. The ones where you had a drop in film canister and advanced it with the cheesey thumb slide. It only took something like 20 pics and you had to drop them off at those out-house sized "Fotomats" in the supermarket parking lots.

Cool pics Dave! I wish I had more pics like that but a flood damaged a lot of my younger memorires.

I'm right there with you on busting my ass to buy my bikes, gear ect and the feeling of ripping it up in the dirt as a kid is one I'll cherish forever.
