Inspiration in the form of a senior rider.
Old guy came up to me as I was about to fire up the KLR and said "Nice bike. How many miles you got"
"15,000" I replied.
Said he had an XL600. I find out he's 83 years old. Has an 83 XL600 and it has 93,000 miles on it! This guy is about
5'5" and about 130 soaking wet, but to me, he's a damn walking talking legend and a role model for anyone wondering if they will be riding into the twilight years.
He tells me his thumper has never had anything but routine maintenance. And that his sons want him to pick up a new bike! Wow, what a family. I only wish my own Dad was around so I could tell him about this gent I met and to thank him once again for having enough trust in me to teach me how to ride.
I want to be fortunate enough to possess the faculties to ride for the lion's share of what's left of my life. This I want for me! I don't aspire to any particular level of greatness, but I do have a clear vision of where I want to be and what I want to be doing in 25 years.
“I said I never had much use for one.
Never said I didn't know how to use it."
