I am not buying anything soon.... but....

I have been thinking what would compliment my Tiger well.

The tiger does everything I want on road, but leaves a lot to be desired off road. I accept this.

So i think to myself.... An off road oriented buke would be very worth while.
But I would still want street legal, so i can goof off on it on a regular basis.
but seriously, how often will it be off road? Probably twice a year?

So... I still think light and fun is the way to go.

I am back full circle to the DRZ400SM I was thinking about two seasons ago.
Light off road, it can do. It biggest advantage over the Tiger... Weight.
Commuting, not optimal, but fun occassionally. The Tiger will remain in the garage, so not a concern really -- just looking for a fun weekend bike.

Weekends? Spent commuting to and from Raleigh. Not gonna do that on a SM. So we are back tot he Tiger....

Why is it so difficult to pick a second bike?

Hmm, I might be looking for something similar, Dual sport with more empahsis on off road, but able to get to the trail. What else are you considering besides the DRZ400? The new WR250R looks nice, a little spendy though

I looked at the 250 when Yamaha anounced it.
I like the idea a lot, I do not like the idea of riding it to get somewhere to ride it.
I would trailer the 250 everywhere.
The 400 I would be able to ride whereever (within a 60 mile radius) to go play.

Still torn on the idea, as I am not sure how much i might actually use it.

My brother is considering selling his 2007 DRZ400SM. 500 miles on the odo. Two complete sets of rims/tires - street and dirt. Yosh slip-on. Jetted. Air box modified in tune with jet kit. Perfect condition. He just has no time to ride. If you want more info, PM me and I'll shoot you his phone number.

Isn't that sort of the point? You are looking at a motorcycle for an intended purpose that cannot be done well by your current bike. Can you take the Tiger off-road; yes. Will you have fun with it off-road; not likely.

The DR-Z is a specific bike to fit that niche where you are wanting more. So, when you bringing it home?

ahh, most of the riding I would have to do to get to the trails is Canyon highway, tight and curvy, no high speed stuff, not sure if the 250 wouldnt be enough. P

The latest iteration of the Tiger is getting rave reviews and kudos!
