Getting back to the track

I miss trackdays.
I've decided I wasn't meant to go really fast anymore at the track.
I've decided to buy a BBR rev box and +1 counter sprocket for the CRF150F and to remount the dual sport tires. Total out of pocket = about $100 to get back on the track.

I'm hoping to shave 2 seconds off my Jennings lap time which would put me at 1:55&change. A solid Novice group lap time. Don't need to go fast, just miss my trackfriends.

Perhaps.
But what I definitely KNOW I don't want to do is part with $3500-$7000 for a trackbike, so this will have to do for now.

I hear you on that. I would really hate to be riding the 9er on the track and have someone pass me on a 150.I think that would break me.

At the last trackday, the guy on the GSX-R 750 wasn't too pleased about it either.

So that's why you have to pre post all your track day so I never see you there. Not that I wouldn't like to meet you .

Hey Jet, what model / brand of tire are you using on your 150 ?

I'm thinking about SM'ing mine and taking out to Adams Kart Track.

Any suggestions ?

Bridgestone TrailWings are all I could find in stock wheel sizes that were streetworthy. They're no race tires but they worked fine for me.

Hey that's my b-day! Where are we going riding?

Jet, is your suspension up to par for a track day? Just curious.

It's been stiffened up with BBR springs in the forks and shock. When I had the bike at the track I held it pinned wide open the entire track except for one corner where I roll off and right back on just to set the front. Suspension isn't holding me back any at these speeds.

Sweet! You've got me thinking now, I would rather work on form than all out speed, I'm not racing anyone so I would rather just have fun

I think this is what I'm going to use. Dunlop GT 501. 100/90-19 and 110/90-16. These are both "front" tires, but look like they might work well. I guess we'll find out.

I'm in MA and Central NY (just up Rt. 81) on the 13th April. If you're up for it, make the call.

You dont want to go fast...... listen to you!

Lets get the the calendar out and start picking dates... I say 5 weeks from this trackday he makes a purchase!

I wish I had a timeline of the bikes you have owned... and sold... and bought... and sold...

I LOVE Tig Bitties!

I'm embracing my age. for now.
By going fast, sure I want to go fast but it's comparatively speaking. Highsiding at 80mph through T8 at Jennings is not on my list of "Cool Stuff To Do Before I Die" but enjoying the track setting with friends is. So this is an affordable way to keep doing it and if I sour even more on the track idea I haven't blown the budget.
Plus, kart tracks are just as much fun for a fraction of the price of a trackday.
