Got my baby back.

So back in 97 I bought this piece of crap 81 gl1100. Spent a ton of hours cleaning, replacing and repairing until it was finally my own. Rode it for 12 yrs and sold it. It wasn't long until I was regretting the sale.

Two yrs. ago I saw it at the Barber Vintage Festival and it was for sale. couldn't work a deal with the owner and it got away. I figured it was gone for good.

A week ago Tuesday I see an ad on CL for two old goldwings. Click on the ad and lo and behold there she is. With a new paint job and new tires.

Now it is back in my garage where it belongs. I am a happy guy.

That is quite a story. How many years between the time you sold it, to when you bought it back? And I have to ask.....did you pay more or less than you sold it for? Cool that you were able to get it back, congrats.

That's great. I love those 80's Hondas.

What a cool story. "If you love your old GL let it go . . . . "

My neighbor is restoring one and can't decide to keep or lose the fairing. I say it's a no brainer - go neckid!

It was gone for five years and four different owners. The cool thing is I got back all the stuff I sold with it. Bags, windshield, trunk, original seat. None of which is going back on the bike.

Oh yeah, bought it back for $350 less than I sold it.

I have very fond memories of my F4i as well. I missed it after I sold it, and I wanted an inline 4 so I could turn key, push button and go again. Now I have that with the 919, and I think it's even more comfortable than the F4i.

I have not installed them. Tried a couple times but they just won't seat in the existing openings. And if I can't get them flush, the screws aren't long enough.
