Brotherly love

So my oldest brother has been the owner of a 1972 GT550 for about 5-6 years now. A great looking bike that his buddy partially restored and gave it a cafe racer tweak. A decent paint job, shiny chrome on the exhaust, etc... He's had hell with the bike because of the exhaust change and pods (vs stock air box) it needed a tune up. Shop raped him for $500 in repairs to get it to run right. He got married to the girl of his dreams and moved to Florida. It sat neglected for years, because some jerk decided to stab his battery, as well as the oil tank. Fast forward to yesterday and he posted it up on facebook for sale. I reply back "dude, it's an awesome bike I wish I could afford to ship it here" He calls me a few minutes later and he is going to not only hold on to it for me (until I have the cash to pay for it and ship it) but he is also giving me a 30% "badass brother" discount.

I know it may only be 50hp, and weighs 9000000lbs, but having that meanass weedwhacker of an engine between my legs on the street is going to get me a lot of attention, and a lot of tickets if I'm not careful.

if you love your motorcycle, set it free.. if it comes back and hits you.. you highsided

Baby air cooled water buffalo.
I'm visualizing .................
Laced alloy rims with heavy gauge spokes and Metzler Lasertecs
Set of old school Konis out back.
Clubman bars
Nice set of crispy sounding expansion chambers.
Some port work, bit of a shave here and there.
Maybe a set of RaceTech emulators in the forks.

My future baby, as she sits now. Not a lot of work to be done as far as aesthetics.

Those are so cool...............

I think they are pretty bullet-proof for a 2 cycle.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck! !!!!!

That is the greatest project bike, maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!!!!!!!!!!

I've ridden the GT380 (when it was NEW!) and am here to tell ya that the exhaust note is intoxicating and they are wonderful resto bikes.

I hope you do right by that bike because that is a fab representative of a bygone era.

I said I never had much use for one.
Never said I didn't know how to use it."
