Woohoo!
I always blame it on Simpson....

But in the back of my head, I know he drove 7 hours out of his way to drop off a set of keys I left in Virginia beach...

OK. My Daddy had the CB500 version..........circa 73 or something pretty close to that. Green. Those were the days. Wow! What a find, K.
Will you please post up additional pics, stats and such? I will look forward to checking back in. Beautiful...........simply beautiful.

Thank you, gentlemen (and as always, I use the term loosely). The bike isn't perfect, has some electrical gremlins and a few bent parts, but certainly nothing major. 18,000 miles and the engine sounds and feels strong.

I will get some more pics soon. Can't get it on the road until I get it inspected. Can't get it inspected until the horn works....

just a suggestion, but if the only thing keeping you from passing an inspection is a horn then just spend a couple bucks and get a bicycle horn if you really want to get riding it. you can take it off once you get the real one fixed. I've seen several dirtbikes plated that used these for there horn so they don't have to wire up a real one.

That brings back memories. I had a 1978 CB550F, always kinda wished it had the fork gators. It was the same brown, but it had blue and orange in the pinstripes. Some how the side covers and emblem look a little differant.

That bike was a lot a fun, rode it to Sturgis for the 50th , changed oil & re-Torqued the head gasket in the campgrounds. Really a bit of a slug but I always kept up to everybody. Still got some 750 carbs in the attic - probably a bad idea anyway. Beautiful bike Kristen , enjoy.

Experience is the best teacher. Remember , the test is first and the lesson after.

Wow, that is beautiful.

And it is possible that is will appreciate in value if kept stock, something to think about.

Plenty of parts on eBay and a lot of Honda items cross reference over from other bikes, for example the correct horn was used on a variety of CB's and early GL's.

Enjoy that machine - take the time to tune it almost to be point of being blueprinted and it will run better than most people can imagine -

Thanks for posting that, what a beautiful machine - and oh - you might want to look at VJMC.org

Hurray! I'm legal and on the road!
They didn't even check the horn when inspecting it.

We adjusted the valves, adjusted the brakes, chain tensioner is all mucked up...but I got a nice ride in yesterday and plan to hit the road again today, taking advantage of a sunny 75 degree day!
