ZRX1200 on Dallas Craigslist

Just a heads-up to you guys. On the Dallas Craigslist, found a ZRX1200 owned by a 58-year-old man down here in Dallas. A red '02 with a little over 7k miles. Could be a great deal for someone @ $4300! If I didn't have the 919, this would be gone.

Anyone own one of these? I love the look, but I wonder about the ride.

A friend has one, so I've spent some time on and around one. Very few complaints. Wicked fast. About 60lbs. heavier than a 919, but aftermarket exhaust took about 20lbs. of that away. Adjustable suspension. For the money VERY impressive.

I put 12,000 miles on a ZRX 1100. The 1200 adds about 15-20 hp and more supension adjustability. I did two track days on mine. 1 min 29 sec on a 2.1 mile track. Those bikes have got plenty of game.

So would you rate the ZRX1200 over our 919's? I'm curious, with you having owned pretty much both...

I like the 919 and think it has a great handling. Love the fuel injection. And it looks bad ass in black. That being said, If I could have bought the ZRX 1200 for the same price I probably would have went that way. It is a torque monster with more power and handles awesome considering the old school approach to design. The downsides are more weight and carbs. And it hides it's weight well. Basically the 919 offers the most for the least $.

I have an 00 zrx 100 and an 02 919 and love both of them. I have till next spring to decide which one to keep (the wife says one has to go if I want to get a Tiger). I think the 919 has the superior handling but it is no match for the torque of the ZRX motor

That's what I miss the most is the Torque. My ZRX 1100 had the same HP as the 919 but lots more torque. Plus it matched my jacket. Oh well, the black 919 works ok with Kawasaki green too I guess. I would'nt mind one of those Z1000's either. Just a shame they killed the Z-REX.

I've owned both, the 919 feels lighter all the time, and friendly. The Zrex feels like 700 lbs backing up and turning around in a small place. But, when you crack the throttle it'll jump up and slap you in the face with that lil wind screen. It's one of the strongest bikes made at 60-80 in hi gear. But, only one bike, Lil Red Honda gets to stay.

That's the comment I was looking for. I searched high and low for a ZRX1200 before I bought the 919, and had trouble finding a real clean one that had low miles. Since I bought mine around the first of June, two clean ZRX's have shown up, and just got me wondering. No buyer's remorse here, but just curious.
