Z800 Thoughts?

Anyone have any experience with these? Sold my 919 for a C14. Better for my wife - and all the other stuff that comes with touring though honestly, I would have traveled the country on my 919 were it not for 2 up.

I am looking for a second bike for one up, aggressive street sport riding around the many curvy roads in Wis. The 919 had enough motor to use all of it and still stay out of trouble. The suspension was weak. NO ABS!!!

In this context, anyone with Z800 experience think it will do? Love the price point and the early reviews ...

Not having ridden one I cant say, but it looks like a hot bike. Sadly, it only reminds me of how disappointed I am about Hondas follow up or lack thereof to the 919. I guess the folks begging for a 1000cc machine screwed it up for the rest of us.

Technically, Honda screwed that one up in a big way, not the folks begging for a 1k naked bike from Honda.

I didn't know this bike existed.

Here is a link to CW on it:

In my opinion, the M1 rifle is the greatest battle implement ever devised.

No experience with the bike, but I sat on one at the dealer a few months ago - it felt aggressive (in a good way!), and made me want to go out and do illegal things!

The Spec sheet tells a pretty sad story. It is a sleeved Z1000 motor (as heavy as a 919) with a steel frame and budget suspension. So ... basically a 919 in different clothes. Yamaha tried the same thing with the FZ8, and it was just as heavy as the FZ1, just with weaker motor and suspension. It does look a treat though.

IMO if you want a naked hooligan bike, the Triumph Street Triple R is the way to go. I have a friend who picked up a 2014 leftover for $8K OTD. ABS, Brembo radial brakes, fully adjustable suspension, and a motor that WAILS. The 675 won't have the grunt of your old 919, but let it spin up and it'll keep you smiling.

I can attest to the 675 platform. If the 919 gets the drop on the 675 Daytona coming out of a turn, then the 675 will be nipping at the 919's heels. However, if that 675 spins up before the 919 can lay down the hammer, it's over. 919 has no chance of catching up until both bikes hit a corner that gives the 919 the low speed advantage.

I agree - I got behind a Daytona 675 at a track day and could get up on his rear wheel at the end of the straight, but no way I would have been able to pass or pull away.

I'm 5'10", my friend is 6'3". The bike fit both of us REALLY well. Triumph nailed the ergos on the Street Triple IMO.
