Winter Updates - Share Yours

With winter upon us, 19 inches of fresh snow on the ground, and temps in the single digits, what am I to do? Other than spending time looking at bikes online and buying stuff to make my bike-less winter blues easier to bear that is.

So far, I got a new Joe Rocket jacket, new Joe Rocket gloves, new TCX boots that look more like plain old tennies, and sending my seat to Spencer to make the 919 more comfortable on longer jaunts. Going to get a new helmet while I am at it too. Really thinking of trying the HJC CL-17. I have the CL-16 and really like it with the exception of the vents being too small. The CL-17 seems to ventilate a little better.

The bike is locked up in the shed, with snow half way up the doors. No getting her out any time soon.

All that said, what have you done/plan to do this winter?

I know how you feel Bart, we've got 10"+ here in Detroit.

All this winter and a recently acquired 919 has led to several Spring projects and even more purchases. Too bad Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow and we've got 6 more weeks of winter....

-Dark tinted shield for HJC Sy-Max 3
-Mirrored silver shield for HJC Sy-Max 3
-Renthal road highs
-Pro grips
-Shure SE215 helmet friendly headphones
-Mold at home ear plugs
-PIAA 400/500Hz horns
-Joe Rocket alter ego 2.0 pants
-Re'vit monster gloves
-F-16 windscreen
-Spencer's seat mod
-Mothers MAG polish for the headers

Still to go (there's a birthday around the corner...)

-Ogio mach 5 backpack
-GoPro with suction mount
-Brighter headlight (Phillips or Hella? Thoughts?)
-Size 17 boots if I can get them, cheap hightops if I can't
-Tapped Vibranators
-Bar end mirrors

In the lone month of riding I got in last fall

-Custom LED taillight
-Fender eliminator

I should probably stop after that right? This is too addicting. It's a good thing I'm not married yet.

Can't help but agree. It's "winter" here at a chilly 59 degrees. Was freezing at 45 earlier this morning.

That is quite the list! I should add that I got new (to me) Cortech luggage too. Side bags and top bag. May get a tank bag too. Getting the smoked shield is on the list too.

I had planned on doing the 599 headlight conversion over the "winter" but it would've cut into riding time

I got this on sale in the fall for like $60 I think:

Ogio Stealth Bag

It's really nice, expandable, and great for stashing stuff without clogging up the tank space. Doesn't look too bad on the tail either.

Yeah I'm going stir crazy too. Or road trip crazy I should say. No snow here. The weather here is . . . . well, never mind. Work and other business prevented me from taking my annual winter stroll and I'm feelin' it. But I'll be ready. I added some heated grips and had a dubious flirtation with some hippo hands. I re-wired and re-located my HID driving beams and added the fog lights I had on my old bike. Now they slave off the hi-beam switch which is really nice. I ordered a new rear tire even though the current one has a few miles left. Last weekend I completed my low budget auxiliary gas can mounting rig. And now we have a litter of German Shepherd pups so that means no road tripping until April or May.

Anyhow, for my next trick (whenever I can get away) I'll run from Beaumont TX to Cheyenne WY via Las Cruces NM in 24hrs.

Bought a different bike

Giving it a good going over since it sat mostly unused (2500 miles in 5 years). Updating shock and adding some frame sliders as well. Can't wait for some warmer weather (and maybe I won't)!

In deep on the MC22/CBR250RR. Probably going to place another $500 parts order this evening, and I have yet to address cosmetics (outside of cleaning)

919 still needs it's electrical reworked.

DRZ400 still needs fork seals/bushings/hopefullynotstanchions

CR250R is ready to go, but I'm out of ethanol free fuel.

CBR250R needs to be SOLD SOLD SOLD!

if you love your motorcycle, set it free.. if it comes back and hits you.. you highsided

Well.... It has been a year plus a couple days since this thread. So, in the winter spirit, share your Winter Updates!!!

Mine are:

- RaceTech Springs
- MP3 Front Tire
- Corbin Seat
- Techspec tank grips
- Maybe more if drunk budget allows
- Remote Start (see below)

I should point out, unlike last year, the bike is in a nice and warm garage versus the cold and confining shed. All it took was a remote start install for the wife's truck and a promise to make sure that the driveway is clean.

Just play. Have fun. Enjoy the game.

I've been working all winter getting my track bike track worthy. It's supposed to be a turn key bike, but I'm finding I need to sink some time and money to get it the way I want.

So right now, I've got a box of parts waiting for me in the garage.

Been gathering parts all winter for the ZX9R. Got some used Woodcraft rear sets for it and a updated transmission from a 2001 to put in to take care of the missed shifts/popping out of gear issue. Been looking at upgrading the suspension and brakes but haven't figured out which direction to go yet. The 919 needs a valve set and a service and its ready to go!

Man I totally missed this video last year. Love it!

Still no big trips since my little long weekend in Arkansas November 2014. Not much happening with the bike either. I scrapped the heated grips (I'll let them go cheap) and spent time perfecting my heated gear. https://www.facebook.com/Phenix-Flam...984574/?ref=hl

Mine sat in the shed all winter, plans for this year are light. Regular Maintenance oil change, radiator flush and new fluid and the only planned upgrade is braided lines and new brake fluid.
