Windscreen Alternatives

Since the Honda screen is discontinued, I've been checking out some other alternatives for those longer highway trips when I wish I had some wind protection. Several interesting options on TwistedThrottle.com, let's have some feedback on these screens...

Givi A755, available in flat black to match my 919's color: http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade...tview/732/197/

Givi A240: http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade...tview/738/197/
Also available in black: http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade...tview/930/197/

MRA VarioTouringScreen, interesting two piece screen: http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade...view/1865/197/

MRA SpeedScreen: http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade...view/2084/197/

I like the way the Givis mount to the headlight brackets, the MRAs use handlebar mounts. Tempted by either the Givi A240 in black, or the A755 in flat black.

I have the first one you have listed. You might be able to see it in my aviator. I love it and i cant stand riding without it. It fits on very easily and has no problems hitting the tank or any other parts of the bike. It fits like it should to the headlight. there are no extra mods that have to be performed. This doent really protect your face from the wind so i have a full face helmet. But it does a very, very good job of protecting your body from breaking down due to wind and bugs. I think the bike looks good with it on it. I am very pleased and am reccomending it too you!

The A240 is a decent little screen, doesn't do too awful much wind deflection, about par with the Honda screen. I just swapped the A240 back to the Honda screen because I like the looks a little better than the A240 and since I put the Renthal Ultra Lows on the Honda screen seems to work a little better for me.

Givi A755 here. Nice shield. On/off in about three minutes, two if you're experienced. Matches the matte color perfectly.

I like the looks of the MRA Speedscreen. I wonder if it would fit a 919 with Coerce low bars?

Just picked up this Givi Windscreen on Ebay for $19...it was off of a Honda 599. I think the model is A305. Pretty sure its this one...

http://www.giviusa.com/caschi_borse_...sp?CO_ID=10188

It doesn't custom fit the 919 as far as bolting on, but it looks pretty good on the bike. I just have it bungee'd on for now until I ride with it for a week or so and decide if its a keeper. Rode to work with it and it brings the wind up to about shoulder/neck level, which isnt too bad cuz it isnt bouncing my helmet around. If I decide to leave it on, I will make some brackets to permanently mount it. Anyone else ever tried this model on a 9'er?

MarylandMike,

Are you running a competition works fender eliminator with matching front signals? I'm wanting to change mine out from stock but want something that looks good and will function as running lights as well.

Chris, Yes I have the competition werkes fender eliminator which came with Lockhart Phillips Aluminum Turn Signals...I also wanted to get new ones for the front...I got them from here...

http://www.motosport.com/street/product/LOCKHART-PHILLIPS-ALUMINUM-SERIES-TURN-SIGNALS/?catalogId=104021&page=5&refine=1&srchHistoryURL=f 7wpsm5l||parentCategoryID~3^superParentCategoryID~ category_root^parentCategoryName~Sport^categoryID~ 420^categoryName~Parts^subCategoryName~Lighting+an d+Electrical^subCategoryID~470&cat0=METRIC&sMMY=HO NDA;CB919F;2007

Just pick the series you like and be sure to get the Dual Filament one for the front. That way it will function as running lights as well as turn signals. The rear ones that come with the fender eliminator are single filament as they are just turn signals.

So far they both look and work great.

Good Luck!

I have a Givi A240 shield. A little small but surprised at how much air it pushes over your head... After owning so many faired bikes in the past, it was a slight culture shock to ride a naked bike again, if only for the parachute effect you get from the oncoming wind, so hence the A240. Anything bigger and I thought it would look like a cruiser...

Scott, et al... My Givi has the wind hitting just at the chin on my full face helmet. There are times when I wish it were just above the visor - maybe that is why I am such a weenie for riding in the rain? The fatigue reduction is great when you are not being blown off the bike and the low screen provides that protection and, of course, looks good.

I was looking for some parts for the honda windscreen (which you can not buy) and honda told me due to high demand they are going to start making the wind screen again. They said they would be available in a few months.

maybe I should have left it alone? All I wanted was some parts which they wont sell without the screen. Its a ripoff to only sell the mounting kit with the windscreen and not seperately.

The National Cycle F-15 is not supposed to fit according to Parts Unlimited because the headlight mounting bolts are recessed, but with a few mods can fit. I replaced the Honda windshield with the F-15, here are the pics.

Is anyone using this one from the post near the top?

http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade...view/2084/197/

For some reason, I think it will match the lines of the 919 really well...

...and it should be a fairly easy on/easy off since its actually a handlebar mount, so I just use it for longer trips....

I contacted them regarding other items. . .and yes you can order from them. Go to their site, in English of course, and refer to payment and shipping information. You can contact them via email and they will reply promptly (taking global time differences into consideration).

I recently put the Givi A755 on mine. i like it so far.. tho it only mounts to one point each side of the headlight.. So it vibrates a little at speed.. I had the National Cycle F-15 maybe? on it before, and Its about same as wind deflection.. it was solid tho.. 2 mounting points, so no vibration.. heres a couple pics of both.

Yea, I used a site to convert from euro to us dollar. The stuff is kind of expensive. Then when you figure in the shipping it will make you think twice. The AeroSport Vetro screen with the required bracket and shipping is about $270. That is more than I want to pay. If I knew it was going to look as good as I think then maybe but you ain't returning it. So you are kind of taking a chance. They replied to my email and there is a US dealer but I have not heard back from him yet.

I might just go with the National Cycle F-16 tall.
