Americans like what they like and buy what they buy and that's why Companies sell what they sell...mostly

Maybe things will change withthe higher gas prices and an increased interest and demand for motorcycles. I know scooter dealers are popping up all over.

There's your plan and then there's God's plan.........

Harley Just Pared Down the Sportster Line this year...

So,

Maybe they will eventually sell the new sportster xr1200 here to take the place of the "roadster" version that they just dropped for 2009 here in the states. It got a mediocre review compared to two other bikes recently though but I am sure it is fine for what it is.

That is my guess.

It's on the HD UK site.

Sportster XR1200.

No-where to be found on the US site.

And yes, we are teh sux0r, even our local home brands (HD, Ford, others) won't give us the good toys to play with.

(And I'm no big HD fan either, but I do love motorcycles in all shapes and sizes.)

it would be nice for honda to throw us a bone, but doesn't look like we will be getting the new UK models for a while.

This kinda bums me out. In fact, seeing left over 9ers, new old stock STILL on the showroom floor bums be out. I think MOST Americans own motorcycles for status. If it's not the fastest it's the most expensive HD. I'd love to see average miles amongst most riders in the U.S.

I love my 919. I think it's the perfect street machine. And that was proved after my first track day this past Monday. It's also my daily commuter (1/2 the year). It's just too bad the most usable types of motorcycles are mostly overlooked for more expensive and powerful bikes that will never be used to their potential.

It amazes me too how people overlook most naked street bikes. I think they are the most versatile fun bikes out there. Although I like riding a bike thats unique compared to most you see on the street.

The CB1300 has 114 RWHP. My question would be "How brutally built can that motor get?"
"What kind of maniacle mayem can you get out of that big ass mil?"

Unfortunately its demand over here,I work at a Honda Yamaha kawasuckasaki
dealership In Albany Ga all the people here want a cruiser or somthing with a bunch of plastic on it and then when they get that shiny zx6 ,r6,cbr600rr and of course the liter bikes and zx14 they immediately get swingarm extenders lowering links and strap the front end down which I find idiotic especially on a 600 I can see it if they actually race but to bling out and putt around???
OOOOEEEEEEEE! look at meeeeee on my 600 boosa killa oops sorry about the rant The U.S. just doesent have the demand for nakedness unless its a cruiser.

Walked away Flat broke! Zip. Zilch. Zero. Squat.
Putting my nose to the grindstone 100 + hours a week is the only reason I have anything. After 15 years with someone who sucked the will to live right out of me, a nice 919 was the least I could treat myself to. Three years down the road and I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made.

Yep the is the problem here with nakeds is only a select few of us want an all around bike that is not set up for one purpose. I like the multi-task bike and that happens to be a naked but the demand is low compaired to cruisers and sportbikes.
Can't have it all but us naked riders can have a little bit of everything.

Timmy S, Well I just dont like the way they are put together its like they put no thought into it. the 06-07 zx1400 has a frame recall that is a pain if the rear
engine mount bolts are tourqed too much at the factory they will crack the frame ,so you have to pull the engine to inspect the frame the way they want you to inspect it .try buying parts for any kawi that are not in stock @ dealership it takes weeks to months to get the parts, their atv line sucks to service I mean the whole line is junk ,05,06,07 zx line 600s and 1000s top end valve train issues noisy (shim bucket, cam profile) kawi makes some of the hardest hitting (accelerating) bikes out there any bike is reliable as long as it is properly maintained.Honda they make it simple to service and for the most part put thought into the service end of their units ,where I think kawi should stick to building ocean freighters and helicopters . all the manufacturers have recalls not to just pick on kawi but damn and I hate to say it but the majority
of bikes are put together here in the U.S. and thats where the shoddy craftsmanship comes from Honda is no longer going to assemble bikes here they all will come from japan and Im sure after that I will no longer have to do a honda recall. kawi are good bikes I just hate to work on them because there is no real thought on serviceing the things they are just hard to work on.

OUCH !!, I guess I am glad I have a Honda 919

Made in japan, with piddling "issues" like a squeaky front brake (at slow speed) and, and umm ummm, nothing else...(no stink even).

Thanks for your reply.

The 919 has stopped production. What's in show-rooms is it now.

Here's the impression of American 'bikers' on my side of the world.

Type 1. Die hard Harley riders - overweight and wear T-shirts as safety gear. This group appears to be about 60% of riders.

Type 2. Squids on sports bikes who wear T-shirts for safety gear and post pictures of themselves on You-Tube falling off doing stupid stunts. 30% of riders.

Type 3. The remaining 'normal 10%
