Which Rizoma Grips

I am currently underway w/ some money burning a hole in my pocket. I found an old document on my computer that was titled "Wish list". Among the entries was Rizoma Sportline Billet Grips. I was about ready to hit the order button when it asked what color to choose... that's where I am having a hard time choosing. I am looking at either the Silver/Natural Finish or perhaps the Red finish. The Black grips are nice but I don't think they will go well with how I have the bike painted.

I am leaning towards the Red grips because I have a subtle red theme through the bike. Red Decals, Red Calipers, Red Gauge Lights, Red Underbody lights, Red themed Tank Protector which all stems from the red pinstripe that seperates my two tone paint job.

Do you think the red grips will be too much, too gaudy? Please advice...

I think I'll need a better (rider's eye view) to decide.

LOVE those grips. Had them on my Nighthawk and I need to get them on my 919, just haven't been willing to take the time just yet. I'm going to have to go against the grain here and say either the silver or the black ones. Keep the red accents to a minimum so they stand out.

I would go black or silver....

How do these grips feel compared to normal grips? are they harder and transmit more vibes?

What is the installation like?

To me, the grips are a bit harder than stock grips, but they give you a much more positive "grip" feel. I think that they are a little larger in overall outside diameter as well, so they fit my hands better. I never really noticed much of an issue with vibrations from them, and I put a couple of 300 mile trips on the bike with them on.

I'm thinking that I may actually have to break down and put them on the 919 this weekend. The problem with installing them is that they don't just fit in place of your stock grips, they actually replace the throttle tube as well. That means that you have to disconnect and reconnect the cables to the carbs (on my Nighthawk) which was a bit of a pain. I'm sure that it's easier than I made it because I seem to take the long way to do everything.

Thanks for all the input and suggestions guys. I ended up purchasing the Red Ones. A friend of mine did a little photo shopping and they looked good and stood out a lot more than the silver or black...

I'll be back in two weeks and install them over the weekend. I'll see if I can take pics throughout the process and create a tutorial for all who are interested in installing new grips.

I went all gold in September to tie in the calipers. I am pretty happy with the grips. As stated, it can be frustrating replacing the throttle tube. If there is an easy way, I didn't find it. On a positive note, the air compressor trick for removing rubber grips works like magic.
