It looks like it should be 9500rpm but I've seen mine go a little above 10k. No missed shifts either. Maybe I'm just seeing things but I'm curious if anyone else had this happen.

The first part of this thread talks about the rev limiter, the second part is one of the funnier on-line arguments I have seen.

By the way, the search function is your friend.

lol... actually in cuban..(what is mostly spoken here) cono is like a generic "damn" kinda thing... even the kids can say it without getting into trouble...

and you should have said "entiendo chiste"...

yo=entiendo
tu=entiendes
el/ella=entiende
nosotros=entiendemos
ellos=entienden...

By my translation... via google translate!!! LOL.. My response is...

Who you callin an ass and why is your woman in my bed while you have relations with a donky? Si yo no era tan bueno en lo maldito, que la mujer no estar├*a en mi cama? Porque estoy colgado como un burro!

Now that we have had a little fun with multiple languages, we should actually talk about the question posed. I think the rev limiter on my bike has multiple personalities. It seems like sometimes it kicks in around 10,000 but other times it seems like it is closer to 11,000. So, either it has different settings by gear (which one of my bikes in the past did), or one of us is confused. But, either way, it is kind of a silly science experiment since my bike runs out of steam before it hits the limiter. Also, it is the softest limiter I have experienced.

No entiendo, porque mi esposa no esta en la casa. No entiendo aleman.

I cheated earlier, I had my wife write a response. She said that she was going to write, "My husband made me do it." So, after she is done skiing and before we go riding, I'll ask her what you wrote....

Que?

Hey thanks for the answer. I'll have to try this "search function" that everyone keeps talking about.

Given my dedication to science, and purely for the purposes of science, I made multiple runs "through" the rev limiter this afternoon (that is what I would have told the officer). By through, I mean I pinned the throttle and allowed the limiter to do its job. This time, unlike before, I concentrated on the tach. It happened just before 10,500 rpm every time. So, it is reasonably likely that Honda designed it to have a 9,500 rev limiter and what we are seeing is the 10% ish error that is common amongst speedo's and tach's. Only a dyno would really tell us the truth. But, I can say that my bike hits the rev limiter, per what the tach is saying, at just before 10,500 every time.

I would think the tach would be accurate.
I realize there is a built in error in the speedo, but why would they do this to the tach ?
Has any one compared the bike tach to the dino ?

The tach is accurate. 9500 is redline. 10,500 is rev limiter. They give 1000 rpm overrev

I'm willing to bet you that the tach is significantly off, and my explanation might be right. However, yours might be right, but I will never admit it.

What I did was hook up the laptop while it was running and the pc3 software told me the tach was accurate to 6000 which is ashigh as I would rev it unloaded

Tach should be fine.

You want to know where the hard/soft limits are?

Check out a video of the 919 when run hard into the redline in several different gears.

Don't have such a video?
There are several online.

Should the speedo also be visible, these videos may be considered 'evidence' and as such may be a little tougher to find than others.

I know my old vid links are still active.
