What are Used Satos worth?

I was curious what you guys and gals would think is a fair price for a good used set of 1st generation carbon Satos with all the hardware and heat shields (8,000 miles).

If the whole setup is still in near new looking condition, I've always gone by the 75% of value rule. Whatever they cost new less 25% would be a "fair" starting price. Anything less than that obviously get's into better deal territory. Gen 1 Satos with 8000 miles on them? Get ready to be heard from miles away!

BTW - if you're thinking of buying some used Satos, I still have that PC3/USB we talked about before.

It's a fool who looks for logic in the chambers of the human heart.

IMO: You are on the high side. My rule of thumb is 60% - 65% of new depending on condition. Gen 1's are going to be on the low side of 60% simply because they are Gen 1's.

I like your thinking Ratdog.

I am building my own GP style setup. I have just been too busy to get around to it. I am just wanting to sell a few things off to fund some other projects.

Last Dec I paid $350 for a like new set of Gen 2 ti's that had a couple thousand miles on them. Got all the hardware, stickers, original wrap, the whole bit... I thought that was very reasonable.

My gen 1 titanium Satos cost me 380 shipped 3 years ago. Got 'em from a Motorush memeber and they had about 1500 miles on them and not a single blimish or scratch. lucky, i know.

i'm gonna say it again...

you can buy gen 2 new, you can find lots of them used...but you're not gonna be able to get Gen I easily and the longer you wait, the tougher it will be to find the best sounding, large core, tight to the tail, not to mention good looking, SATOS !!

150% original cost !!

If that's all you need, there's no shortage of either here, how many gross do you want?

The Japanese distributor doesn't look that promising, if I have to import them from Japan it's going to be too expensive by a long way.
