Used Prospects, Paint/Parts?

Hey group, I am looking for a used 9ner and with the low availability I can not be too picky with color, plus with the thread started by the guy with the new CB1000 in white, I am thinking a 9ner in white would be SWEET! In any event, what kind of prices are you getting (for those who have painted the niner?) and where did you take it to be painted (the parts rather?)

I am looking at an 05 that was repainted the 06 red color, it is Long Island, anyone local wanna check out for me? : ) I am in PA. Anyway, I am going to call the guy and glean all the info I can from the phone.

Also, where is a good place for parts? I have another prospect that has a dinged up tank, and a scrapped instrument cluster...would want to figure cost of replacement in my offer it came that far.

Thanks

You can still get new if that is something you'd be interested in. Dealer just down the road has a new 07 and another dealer has two of them. Just food for thought, plus I think they were selling them for around 6995

i would offer $3k if i offered anything at all...but i think i would rather have something with less mileage...one in NH for $4300 with under 10k miles. If i could get the price down a bit, i would say that would be a better bet...thoughts? 8 hours away though : /

Just be patient. You'll find something.

Maybe put a want ad on craigslist?

I paid $3500 for my '02 with 1/10 those miles and there isn't a scratch on my bike. Too much money for a bike with that many miles.

I paid $500 to have the tank, front fender, rear cowl, and a seat cowl that covers the passenger seat painted, all pieces have tribal flames (and fix a small dent on the tank). A guy I work with did it though. you could try looking on craiglists for bike painters, there's a few around here, just make sure you see some work they have done if you go that route.

Hello all...I get way too excited when "white" and "919/9er/hornet" goes in the same sentence. The OP said white 9ner...here are some pictures of my hornet that I got last month new for 6.5k.

I repainted it taffeta white nh-578...its a silk white honda color as you all know. I laid down 2 coats primer, 4 coats TW, and 8 coats clear. Total cost was $120 for 1 can of Upol primer, 2 cans of auto shop mixed TW, and 3 cans of Upol clear.

First two photos are before the wetsand and buff.

The next garage shots are wetsanded @ 1000 grit and polished. Those pieces hanging off the levers are the Roadracing headlight fairing. They were finished today...now dry then wetsand/buff. I managed to get the last one from Jack Lilley uk, they are now strictly Triumph. This set had been collecting dust in their warehouse for the past three years!

white does look good, we have the color on our CR-V, I was thinking something along the lines of the Pearlized white on the 01 CBR F4i I used to have...white, but with a little sparkle...looked sweet in the sun...thanks for the pics, got any outside pics with the wet-sanding complete and decals on?

Thank you all for the responses. The taffeta white is on the bland side...just simple slight cream/silk white with heavy clear. It will be another week or two before I get all the decals on...and waiting for an overcast before taking pictures again.

Ahh! Pearl whites...fancy pearls. The 01 F4i's Fadeless White pearl. How about the Interceptor's Sunbeam White pearl? A much brighter white or any of the auto manufacturer's heavy white pearls? Actually make it look like a rolling pearl on the street.

White icon jacket? I got a merc in white...but I will save full gear and completed shots for another thread. Oh and HondaStreetfigh you could always be the first white pearled hornet...that is if HondaCrazy doesn't beat you to it.

But I will share a few reflection shots and that will be it. Don't want to hijack...

Been awhile...here are some completed photos. Thinking about selling the Satos as they are too loud for early morning and late night riding. Maybe some Leo Vinces next.

Decals are from the 03' Matte Bullet Metallic variant. Hornet was sourced from the UK. Couldn't find one without the Bensen & Hedges label. If only Honda UK still made the Jordan Hornet emblem for the EK4...

Very Nice, and I hate everything.

I have a Pearl 600RR. White is an easy color to live with. It doesn't show dirt nearly as badly as you'd think. Doesn't show scratches hardly at all. Every other color matches it.

I agree. Honda would have sold a bunch of White 919s

Mount up some red and blue lights and start pulling people over. For some reason is reminds me of the bikes they rode in Chips. But I could be remembering wrong because that show went off the air before I was born.

It does look good.
