TWO article on the CB1000R

Recieved this months issue of TWO. It has a small write-up on the new Ducati 1100 Monster. What a good looking bike. Ducati didn't get sucked into the "let's make a unique looking Mask/Badge /Headlight cluster" that the other manufacturers have. Tough from every angle.

Then the article that I have been waiting months for, the CB1000R. I like Urry, but this article doesn't really give too many details about the bike. But basically, It has a wonderful engine. "The engine pulls like a turbine, pulling completely linear from 1000 rpm to 10,000 rpm. Smooth, hassle free and happy to pull from 2000 rpm in top gear." Fantastic, packed full of power, a class apart, a motor perfect for it's purpose and not lacking in any way."

It's a good looking bike in white. Handling is not razor sharp, more secure and unflustered.

Nothing about fuel mileage other than it'll go 135 miles between fillups. 17 litre tank. Seat height 32 1/2 inches. Tricky to spot digital speedo and large rev counter. Don't know whatit actually weighs. No Dyno chart.

meeting our emissions is not an easy task and other country's are willing to pay more for their bikes. Plus according to most there is not a demand for naked bikes.

I already have a bike that makes linear power from 1000rpm.

why can't they just take the motor from the cbr1000rr and put it in a standard frame (albeit well reinforced frame) ..... they have to reengineer and detune and it pi$$es me off to no end...

i swear the next totaled 1000 comes in here i am gonna buy it and nakedfy it.... grumble grumble..

Not a bad idea Barton 664, might be just about the only way to get what YOU Really Want is to just strip down your favorite engine's plastic covering and ride hell outta it.
Seems I read a magazine that did that to an R1 not to long ago. Dude who wrote about it said it was an amazing transformation.
You ought to do it!

I'll bet Kalifornia's emmission standards are pretty similar to Euro3. That isn't the reason. A bike like that will probably sell better in other countries. When they get their belly full, maybe Honda will send us a few leftovers.

don't get me wrong i absolutely love my 9er... and i have modded it where i get what i think is awesome acceleration and the handling is great.. it is one of the most capable motorcycles i have ever sit on... but ... i miss that OMG.. HOLY #$%@# .. feels like i was shot out of a rocket acceleration.. i really don't care about the 180 mph thing.. i just love the feeling of 0-130 mph as fast as possible...

You get used to the power of any bike if you ride it enough.
