Top Box Options

Hello everyone. Just got a 2003 919. Love it so far. Going to need a top box for touring and for my wife's back when she hops on.

Is there a cheaper option than givi that will be a quality fit rack. Don't mind if it winds up being a cheapo box, but I want the rack to be solid.

Thanks for any input.

Coocase - Home of the S28 Vivo, V28 Fusion, V36 Wizard and S48 Astra Topcases is one option.

I know the Givi's are popular, and sometimes you can find them in the classifieds here.

Thanks guys. Those look nice. I'm wondering if there are any lower priced options. Everything I am finding and these great suggestions all seem like premium gear for premium price.

You could just buy the mounting plates/hardware, and attach a standard hard box to it, such as a Pelican case.

Yup. Just what I was thinking googl3it. I think I have a plan now. $86 for the Givi arms so at least the visible part is well done and a proper fit where it connects to the bike. At the top, those arms have two plates with holes drilled in them.

I figure after that, I can find a generic box and aluminum plate and drill it to fit, or just save more $ and finish off the job with a givi plate and box. Seems reasonable right?

I think I speak for everyone here when I say that you should never ruin the aesthetics of a 919 with a top box.

You know people will either be pointing and laughing at you, cursing you or shielding their eyes.

If you are going to do it, do it right. Find a cheap Chinese one and put a ton of LED lights on it, a lot of chrome, maybe some flowers, rainbows and PETA decals to boot.

Here are some options for you when it comes to the top box, you'll have to get creative with the mount.

Disregard most of my comments, most people just ignore or block them.

Not sure why.....

Yes. After 3 years and 30 K miles on a connie c10, I now own a bike with which aesthetics matter again.

However, at age 48 with older kids in the house, if my wife wants to go from far West Chicago burbs to ride the river, stay in DuBuque overnight, and spend some time together, I don't care WHAT it looks like!

There's also that 2 weeks every July where I tour the country each year. But that can be figured. Making mamma happy, however, has its perks...

Our oldest left for college last weekend, it's hard to see the spot where he parked empty, we'll adapt.

It's important to keep the wife happy, at least I think so. We've been married 30 years, and I still like her a lot.

I'm heading to Chicago for the IMTS show in a few weeks, great place to visit.

Shop around, you'll find something good - and it would also be a great place to hide a nitrous bottle......
