tiny facelift

thought I'd share what I did to the 599 this week. For under $150 I changed the look slightly and I like how it came out. I have another bar end mirror to put on but the bar end weight had to be machined down to avoid binding the throttle. I know that number is big but I like having the contrast so people may see me better

Looks good, I like the flat black screen! When you're ready for a slightly more expensive mod I recommend ordering up a MIVV exhaust from PJ's and getting rid of that heavy stock pipe, makes a ton of difference in how the bike looks and performs.

agreed I like the fmf powercore and the D & D but the mivv X-cone really looks good on these. Maybe santa will be really good to me this year though I am getting married in the spring so he might just have me wait till next year.

I put an FMF on my XR650L, it is a nice pipe. Have read that the D&D's are very loud and maybe quality isn't the best, but no personal experience. I really think you can't beat the MIVV for the 599 application though, looks like it was made just for that bike.

Facelift looks cool. Is your bike lowered too? Maybe it's just the picture.

MIVV makes nice exhaust systems...This is the system on my FZ1

Yes it is lowered about an inch and a half and for me at 5'4 it made a world of difference in my confidence. I still can't flat foot both feet but my balance is good enough that I flat foot one foot and the other foot is on toes and I feel comfortable. No problem at all on hills and such. and don't feel bad about any attempted threadjack, I need all the info on pipes I can get. thanks

I lowered Gin's 599 by adjusting the rear spring to its lowest setting, raising the front forks 15mm in the triple trees, and having 1.5" cut off the seat by Spencer's Seat Mods. She's 5'2" with about a 28" inseam and can put both balls of her feet firmly on the ground now.

The MIVV X-Cone was a breeze to install and sounds great. I didn't rejet the carbs, runs fine the way it is but I'm sure there's some more power to be had with some fine tuning.

Here's a bad video I made to show how it sounds, tried to run it up through the gears but my camera wasn't secured and wind noise obscures the bike. Anyway, the first half is all right and gives you a good idea of the pipe's sound.
