The Search Continues...........

Today I went down the Champion Honda Ducati, KTM, MV Augusta, BMW, and Husquarna to see what they had. The first bike I see is an new 07 919, but my eye's were averted by the sheer sexiness of that Italian beauty known as the Brutale. A used one with only 1300 miles and it's already had it's first service! Oh, it was the owners bike just sitting there showing off the fancy new exhaust system and that he used it for his everyday ride. OK then. I looked over the Ducati 696 and like it, it had all the goodies on it and was $9200 OTD. No, I couldn't ride it as they just got them in the night before but if I called and made an appointment, one could be made ready for a test spin. Tempting indeed. That was only two hundred more than he said they would take for the new 919! That the 919 was "a cult bike" that had a large following, and that they only had two left in stock.
Hummmm- Over priced Honda or a sexy Italian number that looks way cooler in person than in any pictures off the Duc website.
I could also be an instant Ducatista decked out in the coolest Ducati Apparel from the well stocked Ducati clothing area. I brought the brochures home.
Friday, I plan on driving the 113 miles to my nearest Triumph dealer to test ride a new Thuxton and Bonnie T-100.
Life is Good
BTW- Has anyone on the forum actually rode a new Ducati 696 yet? Your thoughts?

Wait for the 1100 Monster - the 696 will seem very anemic when compared to a 919 - I cant believe I just said that !

+1

Although the 696 IS a sexy beast, it's gonna feel like taking a few steps back isn't it?

Swing a leg over that speed triple while at the Triumph shop for a comparison...

At a dedicated Honda dealership the Honda's sure do look gorgeous but a bunch of Honda's among Ducati, KTM, MV Augusta, BMW and Husqvarna looks more like tramps hanging out at the country club.

I'm not saying tramps aren't fun, cheap, reliable and worth a roll in the hay every so often because they are.
I've had some great times riding tramps, you just don't fall in love with them.

Can say I've had any experience with the Ducati, though I do find it very comfortable as I've sat on one before...

How much does the Brutale go for? Its freakin gorgeous!

And I too was going to say, if you're at the Triumph dealer, definitely check a Speed and Street Triple

I've seen a few 696 around town and they always catch my eye in traffic, especially when they have all the extras installed - a much nicer looking bike in person than in any photos. The photos I've seen of the 1100 show that it will be even more of a head-turner than the 696... plus it'll have a lot more juice!!

it states the 1100s has 95hp at 7500rpm.
what a dog. seriously. leave it to ducati to make an 1100 with only 95hp!
might as well get the 696 and enjoy the cheaper insurance. Or keep the tramp & leave the high maintenance fashion queen that won't put out where she belongs.

I remember reading an article in T.W.O. recently, that included the Brutale. Very good looking bike. They said something to the effect of "here we have a bike that just won't run between 5000 and 7000 rpm". I'm a "Tramp" fan myself. Take a 919 and give it a good paint job, gold chain, couple of other little things. The best of both.

Since we're dreaming, I all about a new 990 Superduke. Which is very expensive, and really ugly. But supposidly a hell of a bike.

Yep, I can almost guarantee that you won't be happy long with the 696.
