Tank Protector

Do any of you guys have one of these tank protectors? They seem a little different than the norm, but it is hard to tell from the picture how it will look. I don't want something that looks cheesy.

I used something very similar on my 900RR. IT worked great and looked much better than scratches. Also keep in mind that the 900RR tank was HUGE

I can't tell from the pics they have but anything beats losing my mind again over trying to get the tankslapper things to fit

I'm debating on trying something that fits right out of the box - if there is such a thing - or just going without and keeping the tank cleaned and waxed.

If anyone has these or any others on their 919 I would appreciate pics and commentary too.

My personal opinion is that tank protectors and bras, on cars as well, look much worse than any scuffed paint. What is the point of having a pristine paint job that's hidden by an ugly pad, or leather. I have the same point of view for car seat covers. Why not enjoy the original seats until it looks too shity and then cover it up when it is worn out.

Just my opinion.

I'm with pags on this one. I love the uninterrupted lines of the stock tank.

Sell this Targa tank cover for $15 plus shipping. I don't consider this a shamless sales pitch since I did not start the thread. Just trying to help out the bros with my spare parts.

PM if interested.

I have a carbon fiber one that was on clearance from Dennis Kirk - must be from the UK cause it says hornet on it. - helped to keep the scratchs from my zipper off the tank, but the rest of the tank is scratched and scuffed to sh*t. I'm just rough on everything i own. That's why i shouldn't own nice things...

Angela and I both use Tankslappers and like them. Keeps the clean look of the tank and paint but still provides protection. Did not seem to bad to put on.

I agree.Tankslapper or nothing. I'd rather have a scratched tank than have it wrapped in that big vinyl bra.

Talking

I have a Mag-Knight magnetic vinyl carbon look protector on my 9er. I use it because I have a magnetic tank bag from Nelson-Rigg that I frequently use. I used the tank bag on another bike and found that it left rings in the paint from the magnets.

I know this may sound blasphemous but someday I will sell the 9er so I want to preserve the paint as much as possible. I want the next owner to get a good looking bike.

I may be replacing it in 2007 if the rumors about the new Honda's prove to be true. Maybe Honda will give us a naked cbr1000. Imagine, getting a naked bike with a great frame, excellent suspension and more hp. How cool will that be?
