Spring Itch Already Here

Well...I've been off the bike now for about 2 weeks and I'm already itching for spring. Sunday we had one of those freakishly warm 55 degree days and I was dying to get out and ride. Too bad the bike is laying in pieces in the garage for it's winter checkup.

Anybody else, who doesn't live where it never drops below 60, itching to get back on the road yet? Or did I just duck out early this year?

There was a hardcore guy out yesterday morning in 23 degree weather with an open face helmet. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Driving back from NYC last night. A guy on a scooter riding in the cold rain at about 40 degrees.

It's better to have loved and lost than live with the psycho for life!

you put it away and tore it apart too early. I rode 125 miles this weekend and I live in MN. If you live where there is a chance for a decent day you should keep it ready to go just in case. good luck with the spring fever.

Murf, Speaking of spring, I haven't heard anything yet. Will keep you posted.

My 919 is sitting in the basement, cocked and locked, staring longingly out the glass door. I have a few miles left on my tires that I'd like to get. I'll put new ones on in Jan, so that when spring does finally arrive I'm good to go. No rain in the forecast for the next 3 days, maybe I'll get out.

Rod,

My 919 is sitting in the garage on a center stand and block. Wheels off to check the bearings. My tires are shot and replacements will get ordered soon. I think I'm going to pull the swingarm off sometime between tonight and Saturday. Good time for that test run we've been talking about. No word on it at all yet?

You *cough*cough* suck *cough*. At 60 degrees I was still riding in a windbreaker and mesh jacket. I'd still be riding now if I had winter gear from the waist up. I need a good fall/winter jacket and some good gloves. I have some riding boots coming for Christmas, but a jacket won't come unless I find one on closeout at NewEnough.com.

Three bikes are winterized. The 919 is setting ready with the battery tender on. I just need a 50 degree day, badly.

We took advantage of a sunny 50 degree day to head out to Sandhills State Forest. I needed this....6 hours playing in the dirt.

All of this talk about wanting to ride made me go for it this morning. It was 28 when I left the house for my 28 mile ride to work. But its gonna be 60 this afternoon. I couldn't resist a nice afternoon ride and it turns out all my Army gear still provides pretty good cold protection, even at 80 mph on a back road.

Roy, I just got back yesterday from your neck of the woods. My fiance and I flew down to Ontario and met up with some friends from Colton and Temecula and had a caravan out to Dumont dunes. Spent 4 days wearing myself out on an XR 400 and CRF 450; the fiance rode XR 200 and CRF 230. Gorgeous during the day, cold as hell in the desert at night!! Awesome trip!

Now I'm back to riding to work in the upper 30's...

the coldest it gets for me here would be around 0c/32f.
and the Bonus of no snow.
