spiritual experience!

Hey all,
so i went out this morning w/ 28degress showing and light flurries. Tonight a big nor-easter is expected so i figures the roads are going to be terrible for at least the next week or more so i decided to capitalize on the 'good weather' Anyway so i'm doing my usual backroads home and it the flurries pick up enough that i had to wipe my sheild every few seconds. Yet the ride was awesome! spiritual! just me, the 919 and the snow flakes

i've done plenty of winter riding this season except for january--I logged 1400 miles in Feburary, and over 1000 in december. the roads have typically been somewhat damp, with patches of salt residue which have allowed me to focus on a 2 key aspects of riding well: smooth throttle control and braking. I can defintely say that i can ride fater now than a few months ago despite the poor road conditions.

i'm using bt021 dual compund sport-touring tires and i've been quite satisfied with their performance in changing conditions. My only disappointment is that it appears i will get about 4500-4800 miles to the rear. the pilot powers 2cts that i've used on my sv last to about 3500-3800 miles.
I've run 36f/42r consistently and i had a previous pair on my first 919 nthat had plenty of thread w/ 4k on them. i speculate that this set has seen more consistent highway speedsof 90mph+. I

NYWay, happy shoveling

You are a braver man than I dougie! Sounds like an awesome ride, I've been stuck inside all day battling a nasty head cold. Luckily my third bloody mary seems to have removed, or at least masked, most of the symptoms!

I rode for about 15 minutes in the snow (didn't know it was going to snow and was a ways from home) and I thought it was incredible. I don't think I would like it on a regular basis, but sure liked it that day.

27 degrees with 30 mile an hour winds making for a 13 degree windchill. Bite me!

Just keep the bloody mary's flowing, I'll be fine.

i rode the other day on the freeway with 40mph crosswinds. that was pretty challenging. still, a worthy experience that prepared me for the future of riding in west texas. seemed like any time i wanted to change lanes all i had to do was stop leaning into the wind and it did it for me...
