Spewing/Venting gas from vent line

Ok, I'm pretty sure it's the vent line at least. There is a black hose behind the right footpeg that I assume is the tank vent line. Here's the deal, when it's hot out I notice that the tank actualy vents not just fumes but gas as well. I know gas expands when it get's hot but to actually drip fuel seems excessive. This the first bike I've ever ownded that has done this and I wondering if it's normal, or is there some 2way valve in the line that's not working properly?

You sure it's gasoline and not coolant? The 9er will drip coolant until it leaks off enough from the over flow bottle to stop. Mine dripped when I would park for months.. then one day just stopped. Once it's down to the magic level. Anyway.. if you are loosing fuel.. different issue entirely. Perhaps your cap isn't sealing and the splash in the tank is leaking by and running down the over flow drain tube which also comes out in same spot. Is it a California bike that once had charcoal canister and is now removed? Maybe the charcoal canister is saturated with fuel? Note: afaik.. only Calif bikes have evaporative emissions devices. Pretty sure the cap vents air in right at the top of a 49 state bike. The tube is the over flow if you overfill. You can see a small hole in the lip around the fill hole with the cap open. There might also be a water drain if I remember right?

Mine does the same thing when it's hot. It's comming from the line that used to be connected to the evap can. It seems to be more prevalent when the tank is full.

If you still have the evap can hooked up and it's leaking gas, then you might have a bigger problem.

An ID bike is not going to have a canister. Does it leak only whent he tank is topped off? If so then its likely gas. If not then its likely coolant. Either way, I wouldn't worry about it as long as it keeps leaking from a line that is ment to drip fluid from.

do you have a non-stock gas cap?

anyway, you could use an eye dropper and drip water in the vent under the fuel cap and see if it runs out of the hose that you are used to seeing dripping. to be CERTAIN that you are seeing fuel come out of the fuel vent.

with a name like "katoom" shouldn't you be riding a superduke anyway??

Careful. Not true. Could be talking about Cumming, GA.:

I thought that starting in 06 they all had the evap can regardless of state. Is this not the case?

Mine does this too, just a few drops, just when full, just when warm.

My '03 too!
I filled up last weekend.
Parked in hot sun after a few hours, dripped fuel on the asphalt. (Stuck my finger in it and took a sniff, yep it's gas(oline)!

Looks like something to drill into!
