Speed limiter on 2003 919????

I went for a ride this morning with my friends both with a liter bike. I just notice when i reached the speed of 180KL/hr i heard a beep sound and my speed just stayed at 180kl/hr. Is my bike equip with speed limiter. Is that the reason why i cant go beyond 180kl/hr? How can i remove my speed limiter if my bike has it?

Odd, I know I've had my 9er well above 111mph/180kmh plenty of times. Didn't realize this was a restrition of Asian market bikes.

Have a look at this thread at fireblades.org...

Someone else from your area had this exact some question. Not sure if he found a solution . Need to do a little detective work.

Found it:

Good luck with your bikes programming. You'll really appreciate the way that Hornet rips in 4th gear to the redline limiter. But be careful over there in the PI going that fast. Subic Bay was one of our frequent ports 'o call and everytime we'd take a bus to Clark Airbase or a Jeepney to one of our favorite bars in the bario either the roads were full of people or animals or in terrible condition full of potholes! But the food was tasty, LBFM's were hot, beer was cold, and purple haired smoke was plentiful and cheap. Sure was a play land for Men! Could of been refered to as Fantasy Island! I'm sure you know all that though......
Never met so many gal's named Gloria in one place? Wild!!
None-the-less, be careful with your new found speed!!
