Some buy sell advice please

Okay, my buddy is interested in purchasing the 919. I have another buddy who will sell me his 03 CBR600RR for 1800 and it only needs plastics and maybe gauges. I know it runs great, but is a cosmetic mess. He dropped it twice, but at low speeds both times so everything is straight. My thinking right now is that I could sell the 919, put a couple g's towards my auto loan, snatch up that cbr and get a set of leathers, and have a track bike...

Based on research here the 919 is faster than the 600RR.

If it works for you that's really all that matters. I would do a very detailed check on what it's going to cost to put the RR into the shape you want. Little items add up quick.

I wouldn't say 'faster' but definitely 'better'.

Naw. Don't do it. Look around and you can find an '01-'02 track bike for not much more than that in cosmetically rough, but mechanically sound condition. Maybe $2500 'ish or less. Look on the regional racing association forums in your area. There's bound to be numerous options for a decent track bike if all you intend to do is get out with your buddies and get your on. You'll likely be able to find something with a built suspension, rearsets, plastics, levers, etc at essentially bargain basement prices compared to new. Keep your 919.

Hmmm, a set of Hot Bodies will run you about 600 , gagues from ebay 150/250 , rearsets 280 , clip ons 175 - just depends on how much you wanna throw at it. Then you have figure at least 150-250 per trackday, plus getting there, tires, fuel, etc. - Im all for trackdays , but, getting rid of an oly street bike and just planning on doing trackdays, well ,it wouldnt work for me !
Id keep my street bike and find sometihng eles for the track - IMO -
