solo seat 919

i put an ad up under looking to buy, but am curious if anyone has bought a solo seat or cowl for there 919, ive found them for sale on wildhair and streetfightersinc, but both sites always seem to be over priced. trying to find a cheaper way to go, i got my bike custom painted with black metalic/ silver flake overlay soim gonna have to cough up about a hundred bucks to get the new seat or seat cowl painted, also i need something that come on and off easy because some times my girl gets on the back.

I have a carbon fiber looking cowl that I purchase from a fellow WT'er. It's new, not been used by him nor me. I planned on using it, but I had my seat redone, and now it will not fit because they moved the rise forward almost 2 inches. I can send u some pics and make me an offer if your interested.

This my take on solo seat. I would like to make a real solo seat but I believe that the frame set up will not let it happen.:001_smile:

how easy do the seat cowls come on and off? do you have to screw through your original seat?

I don't believe its scratched, it just had some smudges. It comes on and off very easy, it has some tabs that slip under the seat.

Those are nice solo rear sets. What are they? WRs'? Nice bike but need to get rid of the Mickey Mouse ears. IMO. Actually I have a set of these that really clean the bike up nice.

Have the Metisse, it's held on by plastic clips. Pretty lame attachment method and imho prone to being lost off the back of the bike while on a long ride.

Devise an alternate attachment method (strap that goes under the seat) and you're good to go.

Bikeside makes a real solo seat coversion.

Have yet to see a homemade smuggler seat option.

Hey Rick, how you like them mirrors? I was eyeing those also, but didn't know if they would clear my arm/shoulder. Then I saw some mirror extenders/risers...and thought I'd pair the two. Maybe the risers are not necessary?

for the price. pegs are cbr 929 in where honda put em, not rear set.

Speaking of mirrors, I'm pretty happy with these Napoleans:

They are different rearsets. I see the plate that they bolt on to now. So no they don't bolt right up. The plate that the swingarm bolt goes through was replaced.

i will try to explain whats a rear set. cause mine ain't.
rear sets, as the name implies means they are set back
from a previously more forward position. mine ain't.
they are not rear sets, they are just different footpeg brackets.
the stands reversable so don't get confused.

I've wanted that Bikeside solo seat for as long as I can remember, but $420 for unpainted fiberglass is a bit much. I've also wondered about the comfort, and if I'd have to send it off to Sargeant or one of the others.
Does anybody on here own that seat? http://www.whaccessories.com/images/BS919SoloSeat.jpg

just take the seat to your local leather man or interior dude and tell them what you want

or make one...

even a smuggler could be had w/ a little reinforcement

i agree forget the $420
