sighting

stock 919 - gloss black
southbound rt 206 NJ around 2pm

2 things

i don't care what anyone says, i just can't get into the sound of the stock exhaust system...it had been quite a while since i'd heard one but there was no mistaking that sewing machine

and i know it's hot out but ATGATT, a mesh jacket would still be cool enough and in those sub 40mph get-offs, well it helps lessens the downside /off soapbox

They make the hybrid jackets - mostly leather but with mesh panels - so you can be fairly well protected and still feel the breeze. Something is better than nothing.

one of the reasons i went racing is because they are more concerned with preserving me than i am.

jeans, tank top, gloves, and shades. that's what i used to wear while riding.
the fastest i've ever gone on my bike was thusly, though with goggles instead of sunglasses. as i've mentioned before, even a halfway toned bicep starts looking MIGHTY granny-ish at a buck-forty-something unless you flex it.

i'd ride nude if i thought i could get away with it.

"but officer, it's a NAKED BIKE ! "

I liked the stock exhaust when I first got it. Compared to my other bike, I thought it was "stealthy".
That lasted about a week, maybe less.

My next bike? A Suzuki Crosscage as soon as they make it available. You would not believe how hard that thing pulls off the line! An added bonus for me -- with the exception of tire and wind noise, it's absolutely silent. I don't give a damn about the sound, only how it goes: and brother, does it go! That's my 50 years of riding experience talking, and obviously a very minority opinion. Oh, and zero carbon footprint.
Just my $.02.

Rob

If it has already been done, it is safe to assume it is possible to do it.
On the other hand, if it has not been done never assume it is impossible to do it.

+1, one thing I've noticed over the years is cops are attracted to loud exhaust, I'll keep the stock just for that reason.

got pulled over in cali last year by the CHIP... reason: didn't like my blinkers. give me a frickin' break, what a waste of time when I'm trying to make time.

oh, yeah. i've got stock pipes that have been de-baffled. sounds good not to loud, not sewing machine quit.

in NJ and many other states the clear alternatives are illegal as the blinkers must be a certain distance apart from one another

also anytime the license plate isn't just so they get cranky
