I run Shinko 003's on my 919 and On my RC51 between track days and have been very satisfied. I air them up to 40 psi for touring and daily riding and drop them to 28 psi for back road riding. Oddly enough they are also some of the best wet weather tires I've run. I get about the same mileage out of them that I get with other high performance street tires.

A few guys that I know decided to try a couple for a track day, one set on a true supermotard and the other set on a ninja 250. Both bikes had chunks of tire missing after the trackday, even though the tires performed OK (not great). I don't think tires are the place to save money, but you also don't need to waste money on tires that a bike can't/doesn't take advantage of (add 50 cents and you now can buy a can of pop...).

Good Luck, Steve

I just changed my front Shinko 009 at 13,100 miles. It appears I will get about 14,000 out of the rear. They are ZR~W rated Toursport tires instead of Sporttour. I've ridden every kind of pavement, green grass, bridge grates, gravel, and weather there is from Nov 15 till now. I just bought my
2nd set and have no complaints.
Some who have never used them are worried they don't cost enough to be safe or good. If a tire company molds that ZR~W in the tire size then you better believe it will be safe when you do 130mph on your Hornet.
I don't care what they do on the track, because I have no intention of ever running on a track.

Shinko 009 tires

I changed my rear tire today at 13,500 miles. I still had a mm to the wear band, but, I want to scuff them good Wednesday, cause it starts raining Thursday and I'm planning a lil trip next week. I didn't want to run out of rubber half way thru and worry about the tires. They are good for 14,000 easy.
