Service schedule

I need your feedback guys on servicing.
My 06 hornet 900 (919) is due for its 6,000k service (4,000 mile).
The manual says it needs F$%k all doing just checking idle speed and about four other basic things which you do yourself eg.check brake fluid levels!
It is not due for an oil change until the next service at 12,000 k (8,0000miles) but the dealer suggests it anyway.
I am an ex Honda car mechanic and generally stick to what the manufacturer says.
Service must be done to "keep the warranty" which is fair enough but I would like your views on an unscheduled oil change.
Cheers
Chris

agreed, I change the oil every Tuesday.

kidding, but after every 2nd trackday I change the oil or every 2500 miles - whichever comes first. Which also gives you an opportunity to do a torque check, brake inspection, radiator check, etc etc.

I think he's talking about checking the torque on bolts, fasteners, etc.
