Replacing the 919

That's right, you're not hallucinating. The 919 is going up for sale. It's being replaced by a sexy V-twin from Honda. No, not the RC51. I picked up a 98 Superhawk at a reasonable price. She's a bit rough around the edges, but it should be a blast once I replace some of the aftermarket garbage put on by previous owners. I'll probably miss the more upright position of the 919, but the Hawk has wind protection, a comfortable seat, better handling, more power, and the sound from that big twin is just awesome! No more naked for me. It's been fun!

Good choice of bikes.

I wish honda would make a new one with a face lift, but a great riding bike none the less.

You will be happy

Good choice. One of my favorites and bullet proof. If it has a D&D take it off immediately!

Worse....

Two Brothers AAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

As for the bullet-proof, the rectifier crapped out the day after I bought it. That's what I get for buying a bike on Friday the 13th. Other than that, I'm sure it's up to typical Honda standards of quality.

I'm looking for stock pipes. I'd love some decent aftermarket pipes, but at this point I just want something that doesn't make my eardrums feel like an explosion is imminent, plus aftermarket pipes cost $$.

I believe Hindle makes a "quiet" street exhaust for it? I'm not certain how much, but I've had Hindle on the XX and it was decent for the price. I went back to stock on the XX, the extra 22lbs weren't a big deal to me. I just like the extreme stealthy quietness of the stock.

Check the diameter and length of the pipes. I have some Scorpion pipes in my garage from one of my RCs. I know you can't use the mid pipes, but the mufflers might work well. We can work out something failry cheap if interested.

These are elliptical pipes, though I don't imagine it matters since you probably have the exhaust hangers for your Scorpions. Total pipe length (includes outlet and inlet) is 59.6cm. Pipe length excluding inlet/outlet is 43.4cm. Midpipe diameter is 5.1cm. The current pipes don't fit the midpipes properly because they were made by Two Brothers. As a result there is quite a bit of exhaust leakage at the point where they meet. These are slip-ons, not bolt ons, so they use springs for fastening.

I almost don't want to post any. It's in squid state at the moment, but I suppose I can accommodate. Oh, and I know my garage looks like poo, but bear in mind that my house isn't done yet.

BTW, F4iGuy, approximate diameter of the slip-on itself is 10X13cm. That's as close as I could get.

I wouldn't have bought a Superhawk, but that's because I already have one. Enjoy. First gear handfull of throttle will show you the sky.

Thanks Mike. It's always nice to have my ride stamped with the seal of approval from those who have owned many bikes.

Of course the superhawk guys fondly call them "superchickens". So maybe it should be "chickenbock"?
