Recommended ways to adjust the suspension

I'm looking for recommendations on how to go about adjusting/tuning the damping and rebound on my bike. I've read several articles on-line, but would like to see what the riders in here do.

I have an 06 919 with racetech springs on front, and an ohlins on back (renthals UL's and rearsets which tweak the riding position a little).

Ride around with everything in the middle - Turn everything full soft - note differences. Start adjusting towards firmer until you get it where you like it.

If you've got access to a test and tune session at a local track you can see what makes for a faster lap.
