Rear Passenger Handle Plugs

I've seen a couple of 919 on here that have the rear passenger handle removed and have the two holes covered up with two oval plug type plastics.

I'd like to do the same little visual modification but does anybody know where I could acquire those plugs? Preferably the colour black.

Thanks!

I would definitely PM IdeaJones first but if he no longer has them here's an alternative...

I'll keep these in mind. I brought this up on the 3d printing thread and we'll see what's what.

That's exactly what mine look like except mine are silver. Bought them from a forum member years ago. Love the look of them.

I made a crude male and female plug out of wood and pressed a piece of speaker grill into shape and hot glued it in from the inside. They've held in place for almost 8 years now. I think those plates just make it look like you've removed something and added a plug to cover the holes. Mine looks more like Honda put grills there to allow hot air to escape the tail section, and keep the flux capacitor cool. I agree that the grab rail is useful and I have missed it a few times. It definitely looks better without it, though.

Sweet. I think a lot of people would be interested :P now we just have to figure out a design. go 3d printing i still like the idea of having 919 on top of it. It'd be better than having those stickers

Did a bunch of work on it yesterday and am probably just one or two iterations from finalizing. They will be flush mounted per request, and have '919' that can be color matched to your bike.

Alright, I REALLY hope that there are people that actually want to buy these things, cuz I have spent a LOT more time on it than intended. The mechanical part is done - they pop right in, sit perfectly flush and match the hole. I have a design prototype printing right now and if I'm happy with it I'll get them listed.

Yes please. What's the price range that you are thinking?

Printed the design one, and I have to say that I'm a little disappointed with the color. The red was okay for the kickstand pads, and it's even okay for the plates in the shade, but when in bright sun it definitely gets washed out to a less desirable color. I'm thinking of just doing black, or maybe just ship it with a little black '919' that would fill it in case you don't like the color.
I also had the difficulty where I had to rip the test plate out with pliers since it fit in too damn perfectly, so I might have to figure something out to fix that.

Here it is on the bike. Note: this one is not pushed in - it's just sitting on top. I had to run to work and didn't have time to mess with it if it got stuck.

Ask people what colours they prefer and see what the people want :-D

This is what the new design looks like. I haven't glued it on yet but already looks a lot better compared to the previous design.

I'm glad to see that they fit nicely. How do you like them? Any suggestions on fit/finish? These ones got sanded and hit with a matte clear to protect them from UV; do you like the sanded or did you prefer the 'natural' 3D print look?

I will hold on to my final verdict when I get new rear plastics (in particular on the fit)

But the finish is nice. I like them better this way.

I sent the seat to Sargent and they replaced the foam, added a new cover and removed the passenger seat. It was 10 years ago, I don't remember the price.

Count me in for a set of those - just black though, no "919" engraving. Is that possible? Stupid question, but how are those plugs secured, btw?

Completely possible; ewin3m has the first set of beta plugs so I'm just waiting for fitment feedback before I start selling them en mass. That said, I could still sell you a beta set and at most it would require just a little sanding.
They are attached by adhesive to a flange underneath.

The new prototype for the plugs are great. Just added them to my new rear cowl and it looks great. I used super glue to hold then tight. I'll do a bit of detailing because you can see a bit of the excess glue. But im pleased. The size is perfect, they both clamp in nicely.
