Quick 919/PCIII question...

Hi guys,

I'm about to purchase a Power Commander for the wifes Hornet. Just want to know if the stock map (included with the PCIII) will suit an 04 Hornet that is stock apart from the "flapper mod" and a K&N filter?

Apologies if I'm asking the obvious (I'm new to F.I. bikes) and thanks in advance for any advice.

Cheers,
Pete

The "zero" map is "stock" if that is what you mean, DJ shouls have some maps for an unmodified bike.

To be honest mate, I don't really know what I mean??? I have stumbled across a good deal for a PCIII (thanks to a strong $AU) and am just trying to get some background info before I commit to the purchase.

I was wondering what a "zero" map was though, so thanks for the info!

Cheers,
Pete

If you are going to use the stock map.. then dont bother getting the PCIII .. It wont do anything.. Its only gona be worth it if you want to make the bike more aggressive and leaning the air to fuel mixture ..But if your getting a great deal on it buy it anyway you can allways sell it on ebay for over $200..

I've read a lot of peoples comments saying that simply installing the PCIII on a stock bike improves the power delivery and smoothes out the ride. So it is interesting to hear someone come out and say it's not worth the effort. Thanks for being straight up!

My main rationale behind the purchase is that at least I already have it once we start getting stuck into some real modifications.

Cheers,
Pete

And how is Adelaide at this time of the year? The Hornet must be a blast up through the hills?

I'm looking at buying a PCIII through evilbay from a supplier that only ships within the U.S.

Fortunately, I have a lot of friends in upstate New York who will take delivery for me and bring it over in their hand luggage when the visit Australia each year.

The reasons that I use this method is that it cuts out the freight charges and I'm generally not in a rush for delivery.

If you can wait until February next year, maybe we could work something out??

Cheers,
Pete

I think you are misunderstanding. What I took out of the not worth it post is if you just run the zero map it is not worth it, which is true, since stock is the zero map. However, simply loading a map can be an improvement (depending on the quality of the map).

Noobee here. I have that map in an unmodified 919. Seemed to drop low end power a bit for me. Hesitates a bit till it warms up? Is that too lean?

Anyway going to switch to M112 001 (somewhat less leaned out in low range) and optimized for a stock bike according to the description. Just need to round up a long USB cable so i can run it out the window, to play around with this some more.

They include a Zero map (all zeros) M112 -000, but pretty sure it is just so you can easily compare the original Honda settings to any of the other PC maps. You get about a half dozen maps to choose from with the PC.

I enjoy tinkereing a bit, so i don't regret getting this thing, and it does offer a lot of ability to get what you want, and make any other modifications you may make in the future (new mufflers etc) work right... My buddy on the other hand does not enjoy tinkering in the least, and his 919 is running pretty well for him so, it makes sense for him to leave it alone...

Gotcha!

I was hoping that there would already be a map that suits the mods to the bike (and I'm sure that there is somewhere) but I was going to try the simpson/two brothers map as soon as I get the PCIII.

Thanks again for the input guys... I'm learning!

Cheers,
Pete

So is it new/used/damaged/fallen off the back of a truck?

I'm also in Australia, but have a sister in San Diego who's coming out here in December
