Question on 919 engine.

I have just been playing around the 'net looking at various upgrades and dress-up parts.

As mpst of you probably know, searching cb900f, hornet 900, or 919 only gets you so far

So I thought than I might get somewhere by breaking it down a little. Is the engine/trans. in the 919 (casing, not really internals) the same as another honda bike? So if I were to look for clutch covers, anodized cable brackets, fasteners, etc.... what other model would be a direct swap for many of the parts?

Thanks in advance.

So, cheesepuff, were those cbr900rr's actually 919cc in size? Just curious. You seem to be into them. Hey, weren't you the one who was using an exhaust off of one?

BTW, WFT is up with the avatar? Is that YOU as a kid?

there are HUGE differences, so ask your question on a mod-by-mod basis

ie, "does a cbr cam work in a 919?" etc.

and, "no, it doesn't"

I was under the impression the cams would work if you put the timing sensor

That's why I said the case, not internals. Like I've seen some fancy clutch cable holders in photos and I was like, hey I'd like one of those, but no luck finding it under cb900f...

9500 redline.

I believe that one of the reasons the 919 / hornet has a redline of 9500 is because the stock pistons are cast items, to keep production costs down. If you dumped a set Wiseco forged projectiles in your 919 / Hornet I believe it would be able to take a few more RPM without pistons coming apart.

I don't know anything about the rods or the crank. Anyone????
