pre sellers remorse

for the third or fourth time i have decided to sell my 2006 919 and just cant seem to go through with selling it.i have been riding for 47 years and bought and sold many many bikes but just cant seem to part with this one.the only time i had sellers remorse was with my 1986 interceptor but got over it after a while.anyone else have this problem?

I am thinking about selling my 2007 drz400sm. Actually I have been thinking about it all summer. 919 has gotten way more use than the drz.

If you don't replace it with something that gives you the same (or more) smiles and miles, then yes, you'll regret it.

But if you have something that will still let you enjoy the type of riding you are after, then no, it won't be so bad.

Good luck with your decision, my vote would be to keep it unless your situation dictates it must be sold.
I still miss my 86 Interceptor

I'm going through this with my ZX-14. It has lots of wiring to the battery and fuze block, and other add-on's that have come off and put back on three times now in 2 weeks. I tore everything off, then turned around on the way to the consignment shop because I just couldn't let go of that remarkable acceleration. Then I re-installed everything, tore it out after changing my mind, reinstalled and tore it all off again last night. I've changed the tires myself three times now becuase I want it to go with a certain set. Probably 20 hours in the garage now. I'm thinking I'll have my Dad ride it to the consignment shop this time.

If it is an option for you; don't sell it, just de-commission it. You can always go back if you want. In the mean time you will continue to re-live those smiles and memories everytime you pass it by.....

Garage
I think so many attempts just shows that you really want to keep it, which is what you should do IMO.

Maybe it's because my replacement was my dream bike, but I always wanted to try all kinds of bikes, kind of like ice cream, gotta try all the flavors to see what's out there!

If course if I had the funds, I d have multiple bikes, but eh.

i have owned it for a little over six years and seems like i ride it less every year but i do ride to the mountains in colorado a couple times a year so that alone makes me want to keep it.a four or five day trip out there is about the only thing that makes me feel like im 18 again plus its a great bike and its mine all mine.

If you like it that much and can afford it, keep it. I sold mine 2 years ago and seldom miss it. I would have kept it if I could have justified the extra costs (rego and insurance,etc.). I do miss it as a work horse though, for the quick trips to the shops, etc.

A 2011 ZX10 and I absolutely love it! Puts a silly grin on my face everytime I ride it. Even if I only take a 10 minute cruise to the shops with it. And yes, I am no and have no illusions that I am Casey Stoner, its just a very "nice" enjoyable bike to ride. I am 6ft tall and find it very comfortable as far as sports bikes go. Even my 74 year old father likes to find an excuse to ride it every chance he can get.
As I said, just miss the 919 more from a work horse point of view and have toyed with the idea of picking one up again (as they are cheap now) just for that reason.
At the time when I bought it, I needed a toy and a work horse for transport. My situation has since changed to more just occasional transport for myself and it being a toy, as I no longer need to commute (drive/ride) to work.
As a workhorse and serious commuter, IMO, nothing beats the 919 (especially if you consider the bang-for-buck value - nothing else can beat it from that point of view).

ZX10 - I would love to try that. I was afraid of losing my license with my 954 but the kawi is that much faster...

Everyone that does not have this type of bike, thinks the moment he gets on one he is going to loose his license. Of course its blistering fast, but that depends on you. This bike, like many other bikes, is a joy even at sedate speeds. Try one!

I'd like to add that before I traded the 919, I was really agonising about letting it go. I Even had an agreement with the salesman to give him the cash instead if I wanted to on the day of trade and even the option to buy it back at the same price for one month if I recall correctly. In hindsight, the agonising over it was overrated.

The CBR felt like it made sense over 160kph, and it was so easy to take there. This is why I was afraid for my license! It would be hard for me to resist doing it on a bike like the ZX10.

That said, my next bike will probably be a sportbike (or sport touring) - I just don't like highway riding on a naked and there are a lot of highways here. I do love the niner for so many things (simple, quick, reliable) but I really miss the wind protection.
