So, as you might have known, i picked up a pretty nice Porsche 924 recently. Well, the guy who was going to buy it "never has time" to come look at it, and I'd like to get the thing gone before snow flies. Like i always do, I hit craigslist trying to find a way to get rid of it. Well, a guy about 45 miles from me has a 2004 Yamaha FZ6. Anyone have any experience with the 6? I imagine it'll be quite rev-happier than the 919 and that's what it'd take to keep the bike happy. Wind protection would be nice and its got a 2 Bros system, new chains and sprockets and all that. Link below.

A good trade for a 1988 Porsche? Thanks guys.

Since you want to get rid of the car, and it sounds like you like the bike, and it does look good, I say go for it!

Unless you bought the 924 for 10 grand last week........then you obviously would want your money back.

I Can and will ride anything!

+1

I say, if you have any interest in it, do it.
Might be easier to trade bikes down the road than to unload the car.

I could dig the FZ6. But what's the price info on the car? Come on. Reiterate if you will.

Trading a car you paid $1000 for a bike the guy wants $3000 on? No brainer. Pick up the FZ6 and sell it on CL for $2000 in no time and you doubled your money. Who could complain about that?

If thats the case why are you "Thinking" about it. I'd jump on a turd (harley) that was worth 3k for a car I paid 1k for... you didn't say that, tsk tsk.

You could sell the fz quick for 2500-2700 Id think... Maybe do like jay said and just dump for a quick double. I used to do stuff like this all the time back when I had money.

Sounds like a good trade to me if you like the bike. And even if you don't like it you could bump your $$ as stated above. I'd do it.

Well it wasn't really a question of trading it, cuz to me its already gone. I was wondering if any of you have owned or ridden an FZ6 for any length of time.

i sold my 07 fz6 a couple of months ago,i bought it new and had it almost three years and had no problems with it at all i just wanted a little more power out on the road so got my 06 919 1 1/2 years ago and had a hard time selling the fz so i had both for around one year.the fz handled better to me and had better brakes. it does like to rev but i dont think you could ever hurt that little motor.

Wife has an 06 FZ6 and loves it. I've ridden it a few of times. You do have to keep the revs up to stay in the power band, but its not bad. Been on the highway at 75-80 mph and it cruised right along. It's a nice bike.

Several years ago I was deciding between an FZ6 and an SV650. Ended up with the SV, which I'm glad, but it seems to me that either the 04 or 05 FZ (or both) had a consistent problem with fuel injection that Yamaha fixed with the 06 model. Going off memory here, so you might double check me on that.

my good buddy has one and loves the bike. i dont know what your main purpose or the bike will be? but when my friend and i go riding in the mountains i am always waiting for him at the end of our run. i dont know if it is the bike or the rider or both. it is a good looking bike though. better looking than the car i think.
