Since it was time for tires and Cycle Gear had a special on the Pirelli's I decided to give them a try. Got the set for $180 including shipping. They were advertised as Supersports. Tire just say Diablo. Don't know if there is a difference.
So far I like the tires. The profile seems sharper and turn in is a little quicker. The grip is excellent. It didn't take but a few miles and there's no hint of a chicken strip. In fact I got off early from work today and decided to take a little ride. I was wearing my Reeboks and noticed after my ride that I had just about worn holes in the sides of both of them. Scraped the pegs a few times, that's a first for me on the 919. Yeah, I was having fun.
So if you're in the market for new skins you might want to give the Pirelli's a try. The jury is still out on how many miles I'll get out of them. But for $180 I can afford two sets.
Also installed the National Cycle F-18 windscreen. I like it. I still get some wind at my shoulders but no buffeting. Speeds over 80 mph are much better than with the Honda screen.
I went for it too. I have a new set of Pilot Powers which I love, so it will be a few months before I install the Diablos, but I couldn't pass up that deal. In fact, Cycle Gear has them back up to regular price now. Both tires now would cost $240, without shipping.
