No 2008 919

Did you see the announcement by Honda that there was no 919 for 2008? I did not see a thread on this but I might have missed it.

I saw this on the motorcycle.com article about the new CBR1000RR

919 and CBR600F4i Off The List For 2008

Motorcycle.com learned what may be seen by some as unfortunate news about a staple of the Honda streetbike line. Honda Motorcycle Division Press Manager Jon Row told us that the CBR600F4i isn't in production for 2008. He was quick to point out that the bike isn't necessarily "dropped" from the line-up, explaining that if Honda "has have an overstock of a certain model" they'll simply hold back production rather than spend resources creating "BNG" (bold new graphics) for what is essentially an unchanged model.

But don't hold your breath for a valiant return two years down the road. Asking Row what constitutes a bike truly being dropped from the line-up he said, "Typically, if a bike doesn't reappear after two years it probably won't come back."

That's rather unfortunate for such an excellent and highly refined bike that often garnered year-end awards and rave reviews when it debuted. In a similar vein, the competent but uninspiring 919 is suffering the same fate as the F4i.

Bye Bye 919.

Hopefully it's going away to make room for a bigger better badder replacement.

Sorry, I must have jinxed the 919 by buying one. My last bike was a 1998 Triumph Trident 900 and that was the last year they made them too!

We all knew the 919 was going away, but that doesn't mean there won't be another open class naked bike for 2008.

You got me all worried!

Canadian report :-)
after emission testing approval
honda canada has decided to bring in the cb1300 into this years line up for naked bike enthusiasts.
this is not a replacement for the 919 which has been dropped but a new addition to the canadian lineup.
I spoke to the salesmen at the biggest honda dealer in Montreal, and they are very excited about getting the bike. (I can imagine)

also in the new lineup for canada is the varadero. this is the honda competition for the versus, bmw adventure bikes, vstrom etc.
the same salesmen think it will do really well.

I hope you guys in usa will also get the cb1300 I saw one on my last trip to europe it is pretty awesome bike.
same for the new 599 it is really something.

I gave up on getting a Varadero. Please buy one, ride it down here, and let me have it.

Would you settle for getting parts for a Varadero?

i'd love the evo6 too, but you just KNOW that muffler size requirements will ruin that bike if they try to go production with it.

That EVO6 is dead sexy. I want one.

"Based on the flat-6 1832cc engine from its Goldwing, the EVO6 is said to produce more horsepower than its touring ancestor. But what makes this motorcycle evil is that it has only half the weight of the Wing."

I wonder where they're going to put the radiator. (bike in pic doesn't have one) It looks like if you put one in front of the engine on the bike in the picture, it will hit the front tire.

i thought that was the radiator and chrome stuff on the side was just a heat shield and didn't actually represent the dimensions of the lump itself
